Quick question
« on: April 06, 2007, 01:33:56 PM »
is there really a V30 in here or is it just a Marshall Vintage speaker?
he says it's a V30, but it doesn't say that on the speaker......

It's the original version that was in the Silver Jubilee - they just say Vintage on them.
So many pickups, so little time

so they'll give the same sound as the V30s?

Yep, that's a Vintage 30 and a G12H.

Is your head solid state?  If so, this cab will be fine but will reduce power output.

If it's valve, I wouldn't run such a large mis-match of impedences.

it is hybrid, but only has one valve in the preamp.

and that only comes on when using OD channels...

so it will be fine?

What is the head?   If it is a transistor one, it will just be quiter, as it will reduce the output by 75%!  On a valve amp, you should be able to set the impedence.

You can also wire a 2x12 16ohm cab to 4 ohm by making the wiring parallel instead of series (as there will be two 8ohm speakers).

Yep, you'll be fine with your head with that cab, but even better if you re-wire it to 4ohms (easy enough to do).

i know, i can't bloody believe it!

my dad was spouting bullshitee an hour before it ended, like "how can you trust it, the speakers may be blown" and "that's a lot of money for a cab".

he pisses me off.
