Well, there is that as well... another route you could maybe look at is just having the original pickups waxed or something to knock that nasty squeal on the head. That makes sense if you're already happy with the sound those babies are putting out.

Plus, they should have something that no amount of (realistic) money can buy - 30 years of use and warmth!!  8)

for the last year I've been having fun jamming, drinking. blowing at my sisters place every friday.
we are no band, different peeps and guitars come along.
that and the stories on dutch guitar forum makes me want to have a more modern agressive sound I guess.
tomorrow I'm getting a new set of JJ tubes for the marshall, see what that brings :D

Rather late, I would say welcome to the forum though as a single coil player I am no help whatsoever.

was not impressed, did hear that my LP had way less output..
later that night, same place, I played my own SG with P90's that was a ball :D

Black 70's Les Paul Customs are right up there with 50's Teles and Strats, 60's SGLP's and late 50's Les Pauls in the pure guitar porn rankings. For sure.

True dat.  Love em love em, especially if you can get one with chrome hardware and not gold.

and now for something completely different :D

because of my SG classic I am realizing more and more that in fact the P90 sound is 'my' sound.
so I go look for P90 in hum format, not gonna hack wood from the lester!

then yamhammer tells me, mississippi queen.. hmm, ok..

but WTF?

Coil tap is taking a winding out to reduce the number of turns in the coil.  I think you are confusing it with coil split, where you only take one coil of a humbucker.   This is because over the years coil split has been sometimes mistakenly called coil tap.
So many pickups, so little time

Thats what i would do, those pups are just great, if you have gas for something different just put BNP's into an epi or whatever.

I'm also a big fan of the p90's harmonics and dynamics, which i also hear in the black dog pickups. If i would put something different in my SG or in a bright sounding LP i would probably put those in preferably in a split setup.

Many 70's LP Customs had 3 piece maple necks. From what i can see on the image it looks like you have this kind of neck.

Cheers, Henk
