Sam, you can kinda see the difference in this pic. The Charvel doesnt have a tint, but the Fender neck does:

'tis a shame I'm not getting on with the radius on the Fender neck, coz it looks really nice :(

 I just emailed Bob at Legra about making me a strat neck.. depending on the price, I might go with one, if not, it'll probably be a Warmoth job, if that costs considerably less!

Wow, Warmoth is bloody expensive! I just looked on their site, and its an extra $105 for a vintage tint finish!!

I think I'll be going Legra, unless I find another Fender neck with specs that I like  8)

Get a compound radius neck!!
Warpig, MQ,
Miracle Man-Trilogy Suite, Cold Sweats, Black Guards, Rebel Yells & Irish Tours!

All this talk of custom Legras is making me wonder whether I should have gone the total custom route with my current project instead of doing the Warmoth thing.  :?  Still, it's too late now, body and neck are due to arrive sometime very soon.

Dammit.
Warpigs.

The PRS guitars are good, but JJs are cheaper, handmade, and uglier.

sorry to hijack ya thread here sambo....

But tom I've been dying to ask for about a week now (net probs), what is the model of your strat. I dont see many of that burst and I was starting to think I was the only person in the world wierd enough to have bought one.

thanks

'tis a parts strat. Got the body off ebay, apparently made by Roger Giffin in the 80s, dont know whether thats true or not, but it looks great and seems to sound good :) Its sienna sunburst or something apparently. The neck is a MIM Fender, vintage '57 style (I think), that I bought off of PhilKing a few months ago. I decided that I prefer a humbucker in the bridge though (strat singles just dont do it for me I dont think :\), so its going HSS, though I'm considering getting a mississipi queen some time.

- it also has locking tuners, and a vintage trem (which is bearable- as long as it isnt a floyd)...

Excuse me for my ignorance, Sambo, but what exactly is wrong with the Floyd Rose?  (maybe you already answered this but i am too lazy to read through 9 pages)

It looks alot like my 2004 Tobacco sunburst strat

They call it tobacco sunburst but everyone else (PRS,Gibbo etc) has the idea that tobacco sunburst is a bleck and aged yellow type burst.

I call mine "Peanut brittle burst" coz the the outer colour is the absolute spitting image of the caramel brown colour Peanut brittle is

but yeah... they are pretty rare/uncommon

Ah yes mine looks very similar to that in sunlight, mines a bit more reddish though. Really nice colour, I prefer it to normal sunburst though :)
