Did anyone else here go to Download? If so what were your highlights?
I thought Iron Maiden were outstanding as were Machinehead who I have never really listened to before, as I'm not really into really heavy music. Machinehead really got the crowd going and played brilliantly. Motley Crue, Velvet Revolver, Dream Theatre and Megadeth were also very good.
Riff Raff/Stormy Monday, Holydiver and Mississippi Queen!!!

Dream theatre tone wise were amazing which shocked me as i hate petruccis tone normally

slayer megadeth and machine head were easily the highlights of it for me

one thing that ruined it was hangar 18 with drover..... i hate his lead tone plus megadeth should well have had more than 50 mins

i also had fun watchign the emos get slaughtered in the aiden pit by all the slayer/MH fans that went down early to get to front for there bands.
the stupid thing is those aiden pits were more aggresive than the MH & Slayer ones....

overall awesome weekend apart from the fri and sat headliners

oh yeah and the toilets.... :x

Exams??? I went last year and I had A2 Maths on Monday morning so :P You did the right thing though.

I missed out Dream Theater because I was at the front from 1:30 right til the end of Maiden at 10:30

I too thought Slayer was rubbish. I was like, "huh, is that it?" when they finished. I thought Megadeth was good but the last song dragged on a bit. They should have just played Holy Wars straight.

Highlights for me were Korn, Lamb of God, Velvet Revolver and Iron Maiden. It was great on Friday when everyone was leaving main stage to go see Korn in the DD stage. Korn played amazingly and the crowd was so into it the atmosphere was fantastic. To say that tent was overfilled would be an understatement. Sweat steam was condensing and dripping from the ceiling! I later heard that MCR got bottled and left the stage early

I heard the chant "if you're emo and you know it slit your wrist *clap*clap*" all over the place throughout the night

and yeah the toilets are legendary!! The trick is not to look down...

aiden also got a shower of bottles from the entire audience the second they stepped foot on stage but they actually stood there and took it and seemed to be enjoying it

one thing i will give them is his speech of

if you like us then thankyou we appreciate you being here and if you dont then this is 30 minutes of your life that you are never gonna get back.

i dont even like aiden but his spirit was good and the pits were hilarious

I didnt go because I thought most of the bands on the line-up were a bit shite. Watching a download of the Maiden web-cast though, and its really good so far :D

Loving their tone, is it the Hot Rails that they use in the bridge position of their strats (except the one with a full size 'bucker obviously!)

If I remember correctly, Dave Murray uses 3 Hot Rails in his Strats, Janick uses JB Jrs in his, and I think Adrian uses a fullsize Dimarzio humbucker (Super D?) in his.

It's been a while since I read up on Maiden, but that's what they were using last time I checked :)

Did anyone else find it annoying that Velvet Revolver played Guns n Roses songs? Sure they have Slash I think it's a backward step for him to play his old band's songs. It didn't sound right without Axle Rose anyway.

YES!!! At the front  Mastodon was awesome. Played most of my fav songs so I was very happy. Blood and Thunderrrrr.

Another spot of awesomeness was Paparoach I really enjoyed their show because I was really into them when I was in high school. I don't like their new stuff though. The singer (forgot his name was it Jacob?) really got the crowd going.

I think Slayer played Angel of Death at Leeds Fest btw. Heh it looks like we might have had a better set
