OK, I''ll play.

Far too many guitars to list (consult the pics thread for most of 'em), but here are two favourites with the pedals & amp setup I use most :)

Jackson RR1T with Holy Diver set
Gibson Flying V with Miracle Man bridge & SD Full Shred neck (had this guitar since '93, changed so much there's hardly anything left of the original)
Engl Savage 120
Mesa Recto 2x12" cab
Samson PS-11, TC Electronic G-Major, BBE 482, Korg DTR2000
Sennheiser E906 & Shure SM57
Lehle 3@1 (great for guitar changes & A/B comparisons :)), MXR M134 Chorus, Morley Bad Horsie
Spectraflex cables (except for 2 Monster Rock patch cables)
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

You should try some then, you wont want to keep the old ones in there!

I can't understand guitar players coming in here, hearing all the great things about the products that this forum is all about and reading how happy it makes players when they get some and still don't own any! Even more confusing, some give advise on them that they haven't had any first hand experience of!!!!  :?

Well... I have really bad GAS but I cannot justify changing my pickups when I have absolutely no quibbles about my sound. It seems like a waste of money and changing for changings sake and that's not something I'm in the line of... much.

I am more than happy with Seymour Duncans, I think too many people are quick to slate them. Fair enough, if you've had a bad experience than that would sour your taste... but I haven't. Ever. They've only ever been great for me.

As for the Lace Sensors, BKP's don't meet my needs whatsoever there - I wanted a real singlecoil sound but without the hum that reacts a lot better to my high gain amp. That's Lace Sensors aaaaaall round.

+1 Johnny.

and Mr. Ed, if/when you do take the plunge, you might find that you dont need a couple of those pedals. (then again, you might not).

are you happy with the basic tone WITHOUT any of the pedals?

Nah, no pickup could ever replace my pedals. I $%&#ing love them!

Yup, my basic tone is classic - my clean is clean enough without being sparkley and Fender-like (a class part of the JCM900) and the dirties are $%&#ing filthy.  :D

My turn :)

Marshall JCM900 (50w version)
Jackson 7 string
Charvel Model 4
Custom Ran
Modded ProCo Rat

2x ADA MP-1 (one high gain, one low/clean)
Laney VH100R (not used anymore)
Lehle D.Loop MIDI
Alesis Quadraverb (behind the rack)

I need a nice chorus pedal to go with my rat-boosted JCM900 setup, i do have a Boss CH-2, but it's broken (plugged the wrong power supply in- doh!). Needs to be a really deep, clear chorus that'll be used only with clean sounds, whats the stereo MXR unit like?

As a fellow 900 enthusiast I emplore you to go for the MXR Stereo Chorus! It's the most versatile, warm sounding, usable yet reasonably priced chorus I ever did see and use!

Perfection in a yellow box.

I doubt a pickup is going to take the place of a wah, phaser, delay or chorus

The M134 is a fantastic chorus unit.  Listen to the "wet" parts of my HD clean clip (about 0:53 in) - maybe not to everyone's taste but I like the sound very much :)

Cheers guys, looks like the winner is there :) The section i like most is the one from around 1:10, with the chorus, reverb and delay, that's pretty much the sound im after- i'm going to get a delay pedal at some point, as i'm not fancying taking my rack stuff out and about; just too much hassle.

How much did both of you pay for yours, and where did you get them from (so i can gauge how much i should save up)?

Cheers guys :)

I've had mine a while, but IIRC I got it from GAK

A quick search around the internet shows that £150 seems to be the going rate (I'm sure I paid less than that though).  Yes, it's double the price of a Boss, but it's also twice as good (I had a CE5 before) :)

Something worth pointing out - you do get an 18v power supply included with it (it uses 18v or 2 batteries).  That's very good if your pedal board power supply only has 9v outputs.

You should try some BKP's out before you make a statement like that, you will probably realise why the guitarists here buy them!

Here's my board - the usually nasty DS1 is modded using the DIY Monte Allums Tri-Gain Rectifier mod and the TS7 is also home modded to using the Monte Allums TS808 kit - I also put in a Burr Brown op amp.  I also modded the Boss TR2 by clipping the C4 capacitor (which helps no end) and soldering a green LED - which does nothing, except make the pedal look cool when on.

I got mine off eBay - from the US - and it cost me about £85, a lot less than buying from the UK and that was for a brand new unit too, not used in any way.

Why is it so hard to comprehend? I have NO problems with my sound at the moment and thus have no need to try new pickups - regardless of who they're made by, what they look like and how much they cost.
