Hey guys
Basically I am not very happy with the playability of my guitar. It is a 1980s Fender HM, 24 fret with LO pro edge bridge.
Basically I would like the action lower with little or no buzz, my ideal action would be 1.5mm measured at the 12th fret on the Low E and 1mm on the high E. When set to this i get buzzing all over the neck when I play with medium-hard technique. my current action is 2mm on the low, 1.5mm on the high and I get no buzz at all.
I am using 9 gauge strings and I like the feel of these (tried 9.5's and 10's didn't feel right, also hybrids 9-46's).
Also when measuring the neck relief by holding down the 1st stret and 24th fret, measured at the 12th fret I have 0.25mm relief.
I'm wondering a few things, would it be possible to increase the neck bow a little more and maybe this would solve my problems? I'm unsure of this but from what I've read I have very little relief compared to others.
This guitar is pretty old and was in a very bad state when I got it, perhaps I should just save up for a vigier which has better action rather than persisting with this one which doesnt seem like it can be fixed. I have taken it for a few techs and they never get the action right, so I give up with techs basically for setting action.
Cheers
