bit more progress today.

neck is fitted to body -

HOT DAMN!  I have got to make a spalted top one day.  If you are interested in the guitar i built over the summer i do have pics, and i have been considering posting them up here.  However, i don't want to feel like i am flaunting my guitar or showing off, for i feel no right too as my craftsmanship is nowhere near professional (it was my first full build, well my only build actually).

That spalted top looks really nice, I dont like the lighter spalted tops I've seen as much as that darker one. Looking forward to seeing the finished item!

You should see some of the abominations that have come out of my shed (actually my spare bedroom).  Post pics dude.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

just ordered some more hardware (which i wasnt going to do for this build!!!).  I have gone for nickel plated stuff that can be distressed easier and hopefully match the stopbar i did last night.  I didnt want to start mixing distressed nickel with distressed chrome.  I guess this means it will be covered pickups hopefully somewhere between the aged nickel and camo options - just need to speak to tim about that, and what humbuckers to get!!!

decided on control layout.

It will have master volume and tone with the 3-way toggle switch inbetween.

possibly gonna have a couple of push/pull pots for  coil tapping, phase switching or series/parallel options - really not sure yet though, again it depends what pickups i get!

cheers guys!!

.. right, the inlay.  i have cut out the parts of the fist with black pearl and stuck them together and filled the gaps with black filler.. the fingertip is obviously in the wrong place so i will have to sort that out but i thought i would show the options for positioning.

option1: spanning the 11-13 fret.

option2: the wrist sitting directly on the 12 fret slot

option3: the wrist sitting directly on the 3rd fret

option 4: the wrist sitting on the end of the neck

I like option one
why are there no options with the wrist pointing upwards? would that not look good at 12th fret?

because of the way i cut the inlay!! - i could do it if i used the back of the inlay but i glued t up to match the camber of the rosewood board so the edges would stick up if i flipped it over.  I have got to pull it apart and reglue it to fix the fingertip so its not out of the question to change it when i do that

At the bottom of the neck looks really good I think.. Option 1 will also look great.
