all seperately cut.  I wiped the edges with black dye.  stuck it all down onto paper and positioned it - then filled the gaps with black dye mixed with glue

Woo for rocking teachers! (ok I don't graduate till June, and I'll be teaching a REAL science, but still).

Pretty awesome build though. A custom guitar has always fascinated me, though I'd never know what to go for. Do love your slightly wonky Les Pauls though.

Slightly wonky!!!!!!!! gotta be a better way of describing them that that :!:

you are a braver man than me if you want to teach a real science - too many kids running around for my liking!!..
i used to be a teaching assistant working with the SEN kids and helped out in lots of science lessons....scariest hours of my life

my day job is cushy- seriously.  I only do 6th form, teach in the same two rooms that are next to the staffroom (close to my coffee jar  )  and can regularly sneak off to the workshops and pilfer the supplies of mahogany from old bookcases that arther keeps for me.. hopefully next year i can get one of the technicians to show me how to use the CNC machine, its not big enough for whole guitars but i might be able to cut logos and make templates on it.

And as soon as i decided i didnt care whever the kids liked me or not - it became almost stress free for me... all except the odd parents evening and report writing fuss.

best thing is that it gives me 13 weeks off a year plus i finish at 3.40 at least 3 days a week so plenty of time for this guitar stuff!!

haha, awesome!

I suspect it's easier teaching sixth form, though, at least most of the kids (half) want to learn there.

that's not what my dad said when he was trying to teach french to people who could barely speak and write english... (they were native english speakers, by the way)

Didn't mention anything about it being cushy (like I said, I drink with a few teachers, so I know what it's like).........

.........But apparently it is

And now we have all established i teach, i dont expect you to be pointing out my spelling and grammer issues... dont tell the english teachers i start sentences with 'and' all the time!!!

I have inlayed the fist today so thats currently being glued in with epoxy  and i should be able to clean it up and show you all how it looks tomorrow.  I have also added some bevels to the top.  Its certainly not bevelled as much as an SG because the top isnt thick enough for that, and you couldnt call it a carve top either..its just some subtle shaping that will hopefully enhance the oevrall look of the guitar.  I have shaped it about 90% of the way there and its currently soaking up some more epoxy so i can safely take it to its final shape

its just how i like inlays actually - simple and effective rather than over fancy.  Good quality materials and a few straight cuts and it only has an hour or two put into it.

i should say the frets will probably cover a bit more than i have shown

Really like the inlay, super simple and awesome.

And your LPs ARE wonky. Crazy. But crazy AWESOME!

which ones are you looking at - i dont think i have done much LP shaped stuff, is it the ravelle style ones.. that has the top half of a LP and a fairly wonky bottom half i suppose
