does anyone know much about this guitar? i bought one a little while ago, and its nice, but its not quite for me. it sounds very similar to my V, and with it being my only other guitar, its not quite worth it to me to have two guitars that sound so similar. i was thinking of selling it and grabbing an Agile LP.

my only hesitation would be that since they only made it for 2 years, could it possibly be worth something, or maybe eventually be worth something? i don't want to later regret selling it for a guitar that will not have any resale value.

...seems like they were the first Studio...I dont really think they would bring any more than a Studio, even though they were only made for 2 yrs..they were "improved" and turned into the popular Studio, methinks
-sound slike it is a perfect guitar to drop some new KNUCKLES in..presto!new tone!!
"...major scales...what's that??"- Doug Aldrich
-Rebels,VHII, Mules,Milks,Bombs,and Boogie C+'s!!

nah its not really just the tone i dont like. this things a bit beat up and just doesnt feel right. i've always wanted a cherry sunburst lp. i might just save up and get the agile lp w/ p90's and keep this one too.

gibson sent me the spec sheet

ok so it seems it won't let me upload pics of it, but there is a kahler flatmount on it... routed out with a knife and fork

i didn't like it so much at the beginning, but now it feels far more comfortable, and the perfect weight

if your not liking the dirty fingers, you could put the cold sweat in which should be the same kind of sound, just the BKP edge

(i would have done that by now if my phone didn't die  )

looking at the Agiles, how much of a difference in tone is there between a solid mahogany LP, and one with a 3/4'' maple cap?

the solid mahogany ones can be a little dark sounding for some people.  The maple is said to bring 'top end sparkle' in mrketing speak

personally i like solid mahogany guitars - but certainly not for everyone

now i'm liking the one with p90's, but that one doesn't have the maple cap. i guess i maple cap isn't quite necessary for p90's? also, what does a mini humbucker sound like? the have the same LP with the p90 neck, mini humbucker bridge, and a wilkenson trem.

smaller magnetic field makes it slightly twangier I think.
I am sure Steve Clark described them as like nothing else.
Not like humbucker, not like single coil, but has aspects of both

Mini humbuckers have more topend than the majority of humbuckers (or perhaps theyre a little bass light). theyre also quite low output.

Gunson used them to try and give the firebird models a bit of twang.

Theres a thread somewhere with more detail from around May or early june this year.

Personally I love them (makes mental note not to look at firebirds)

anyway, it sounds like your guys description of the mini humbucker sounds like a p90, but i've never played either. are they similar?

anyway, this is what i'm looking at right now, what do you guys think?
