I got my new BKP on Wednesday and installed it the same day.
A while back I was going to ask Tim for something with a Holdsworth type tone then I noticed on Feline's site that someone had already made such an order, so a message to Tim followed by several weeks (months?) procrastination and I was ready to order.
It's 16.4k and AV, similar to a Holy Diver I think. I'm not sure how close it is to the SD Holdsworth sig pickup, it's obviously not exactly the same as SD don't scatterwind, it may infact be a double screw HD for all I know but the most important part is the tone...
The Fernandes I put it in has a loud acoustic sound but it sounds a bit banjoey, and I'd previously tried the stock pickup, a DM Fred and then a DM made IBZ F1 which is also double screw coil;
The first thing I noticed was how hot this pickup is, the notes just fly out. The bottom end is fat but tight, the midrange is big and detailed and the treble is full and clear. As I was tuning up I had some fun playing BLS style riffs in B with gauge 9 strings, even then it sounded huge and tight.
I can get great Holdsworth style warm but clear cleans with my POD XT, his lead tones are much trickier but I reckon I'm a step closer with this pickup than any of the others.
The guitar has a switch that let's me bypass the volume & tone circuit and go straight to the jack. The vol & tone are 250k (controversial!) CTS pots that are cryo treated, and all the wiring and output jack are also cryo.
Big thanks to Tim and the crew for making great pickups and turning yet another guitar into a tone monster! Here are some pics:
