First Track for the Miracleman loaded Feline PH-1

Here's the first track I've been able to put together using the new guitar. I was worried that the Miracleman set might be harsh, but I got plenty of warmth on the main lead track.

It's recorded with Line 6 gubbins and Garageband so my lack of knowledge has knocked the quality a tad. The Clean rhythm track is the middle position central coils of the MM set, with the distorted rhythm all on the bridge. Main lead is on the neck Pup. My apologies for the random bits, after recording all the backing I was a little washed out. Hopefully i'll return and tidy it up a tad. The final delayed cop out section is played on the bridge.

Thats sounds really nice, any chance of a pic of the guitar?

How is that mixed with the pickup levels(ie volume of each)? the neck pickup of the miracle man is something I wonder about, as apparently its nothing like the EMG 85?

From what I can tell the pickups are well matched in terms of output, but I'd say that the neck is like a hotter Seymour 59. I'm a bit of a lamen in terms of the different pickup flavours and have always opted for Seymour Duncan in the past. But when I was looking into the set for the Feline, I contacted BK regarding a JB like pickup and the Miracle man set was suggested. I sometimes find that the EMG's at the neck can be a little sterile, so I think this set was a great alternative.

The samples of the set from the BK guys pretty much nail the original Zakk tone and that was me sold.

Holy, I didn't think they sounded that good! I'm going to guess you didn't use pre-sets... didn't think the MM's would sound like that either.

The really small one looks interesting, Toneport GX. 50 quid too.

Cheap GAS, my favourite kind.

One question, is there a noticeable latency with the Toneport?

I use the toneport with a mac and there's no latency as far as I can tell. I did however spend a dogs age getting some tones I liked. I can recommend the Line 6 stuff for recording till the cows come home.

I've heard that Guitar rig is better but the Gearbox software has a great palette of sounds to play with and even some of the presets are pretty good. As you say nice price too.

Thanks for the good words guys. I've been wanting to throw in a cheeky delay section into something for ages. Its kind of an homage to a guitarist called Blues Saraceno, whos guitar was the basis for the custom. He of course can play considerably better than I. If anyone is into Dweezil Zappa his latest Album features Blues guesting.

i'd compare it with a less middy air zone

I think the closest sounding pickup I have to the neck MM, is in my Petrucci musicman, but I'm not entirely sure what that is. I take it the Air Zone is a Dimarzio model? I've only heard the Pafs which have always had a cool sound and the Air Nortons which I've always thought seemed rather weak.

It doesn't sound too dissimilar to the 59 and the Jazz I have in some other guitars just a little more wah'd.

I need to set me up a proper recording rig in the meantime, so I might be asking fo Mic info in the near future. 8)

If it's the stock pickup, it's an Air Norton, that's slightly costumized to Petrucci's specs. He has used that pickup since the Images and Words days.
