« on: October 19, 2007, 05:15:20 PM »
hey everyone,

i want the best sound out of my gear and so im asking you if you would change the pickups of my guitar or not
if so which pickup would you choose?
at ultimateguitare.com the suggested my EMG's or BKP's

guitar: Schecter C1-classic
amp: Engl fireball
effects: g-major (and sonic maximizer in the near future)

ah yes i mostly play stuff from Metallica (also the clean parts),
AC/DC, Black Sabbath usw. (90% metal)

I'm baffled haha, that's quite a wide range of styles and i'm finding it hard to pick something, i think i'll go with the Nailbomb as it's high gain for your Metalica etc. but it's so versatile at the same time which should cover your Hendrix and stuff.
But i'll be interested to see what other's recommend.
Black Dogs

Previous BKP's: Riff Raff, Holy Divers, Painkillers, C. Warpig, Nailbomb, Miracle Man.

so would you suggest the holy diver?

ive heard that BKP's are really nice pickups, but i really do want to match them properly to the woods. Many BKP fans have been known to say (on their forum, no less), that X pickup doesn't sound very good in a particular guitar, etc.
so i want the right pickup for my schecter!!!

I think he's describing the two, so you could take your pick of which one you would like better

TO's other guitarist uses a Cold Sweat bridge and Abraxas neck in his Schecter C-1 Classic.  Given the different metal styles that they play, he gets a great sound out of this setup.  It is also versatile enough to play many other styles.
So many pickups, so little time

who is TO?

anyway i asked the guys from the bare knuckles pickups and they told me the following:
"for a really versatile set of humbuckers for your C1 I would recommend
the Nailbomb humbucker set-great classic rock/metal tones with good coil
splits and organic clean tone too."

so they are talking about the  Nailbomb humbucker - Calibrated Covered Set -
am i right?
can you tell me what the right options are for my Schecter C1 classic?

spacing: ?
cover : ?
conductor: ?
leg: ?

hope you can help me

TO = Ben / the band Twighlight Odysey - He is on the forum

spacing - measure bridge poles low E to high e
Cover - whichever colour you like  :P
if you want a coil split - 4 conducter
leg length - measure it I think 1/2 an inch is standard and the shorter is for shallow bodys

its in common ordering FAQs at several places around the site

Hi nikita,

You can hear my band here.

www.myspace.com/twilightodyssey

ON THE SONGS SQUADRON, LONG DAY, AND OUTLANDERS -- All rhythm guitars are the Cold Sweat bridge pickup. The left channel is the Schechter. (The right side is a parts build strat that PhilKing and I threw together)

All neck leads are the Abraxas in the Schechter. Bridge leads are the Miracle Man.

I think that the Cold Sweat scores over the Nailbomb in terms of absolute precision and it has a bit more grind and agression. It does not have the same midrange width as the Nailbomb, however. Harmonically, they are comparable, but I personally prefer the Cold Sweat.

The Abraxas neck pickup sounds HUGE in the Schechter.

Anyway, check out the songs, and happy hunting!
