Go round that for a while, and you'll end up happy with all the different fingerboards, tones, etc

Will give it a go - I think maybe it's because I had the amp set nicely for the Mules and didn't adjust it for the Apaches. Another thing I may do is lock the strat away for a few weeks and see if I miss it.

I'll post pics of my bitsa later that are indeed what I think you'd like & would work for you

or maybe sell the strat and put together a bitsa!

Options, options, options!

To the haters - it's just a cosmetic finish guys.  Get over it!

This a million times. I really don't see any difference between a relic finish, a flame top or a Trussart Humvee component.

This is the bitsa that wez made the neck for. It's amazing mate, I've tried some humbuckered strats but they seem to not react quite as well. This one gives a lot of depth but with the single coil tone I love.

Go for it!

Looks very nice - I think I saw it when first posted.

Played the strat last night and liked it a little more - I think what I will end up doing is getting a replacement neck with a flatter profile, bigger frets and a rosewood board. I might even change the pups from Apaches to Irish Tours and switch the pickguard from white to black but keep the white pup covers.

Part or all of this proposed change may be due to me watching SRV at the el mocambo DVD last night!!

Not bad but I think the relicing is not as good on this one. Looks a little more faked than the original thread starter.

Yeah, I agree, this one looks more like someone has splashed it with acid or something!

The one at Guitar Village was really nice but it's been sold now (thank God...)

I very, very nearly seriously considered it. It would have involved me selling the Esquire though (I know Dave would have been happy about that!)

Yeah, if I hadn't been away the weekend before last I was going to go down there and check it out.

Glad I didn't, it was silly money but the tempation might've been too great.  Then again, it might've been one of those instances where I pick a guitar up and know instantly that I don't like it (usually due to the neck shape).
