After bending like a crazy angus young I must admit it stays in tune with a good ol 10-52 mounted on it. Im glad no one noticed i went for a pig90 in bridge. Some samples of tomw convinced me, its nice and fat !

Im also trading my diezel for a rectifier, I prefer the growl on those, they sound more fat and dense. The diezel is good, specially on cleans but its too special for my tastes even if im liking outsider sounds or using vintage stuff to play metal.  Pics and samples of the rectified pig incoming :).

 I'm must be even olderish - just had the original Klusons fitted back on my 1963 SG Standard - they still work fine (even after 47 years!)

They're not as old as me.If anyone has a spare double ring Kluson  for sale.I need one.

Sent it back, the sound was too shrill and calm. It had no reals ballsy tone nor that les paul fatness. Adding toggle was scratchy, and I had a lot of electric feedback even on low volumes....

Might go for reissue 58 or some early les paul classic since those are pretty light weight.

Sorry it didn't work out, but if you weren't happy I think you're right to return it while you can.  You'd probably have ended up selling it in a few months and losing money.

Better luck next time!  :)

what about just laying out 799 for one of these?

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Studio-50s-Tribute.aspx

I'd love to try one of these - I'd probably even buy it unless it was a complete dog...

However, have you not been following the trials and tribulations of this model on the Gibson/etc forums?

The different colours are/were all limited runs of undisclosed but pre-determined quantity, the flood happened in the middle of it all, and added to that the Gold Top was over sold by distributors when they didn't know how many they was gonna get...

As far as most of us is concerned the Gold Top version never existed

I didn't know that, very interesting.  I'd guess Goldtop was the finish 95% of the potential customers wanted anyway!

They seem quite nice guitars but I'll stick to humbuckers for now. Maybe some PRS custom from worlguitars or some les paul im gonna find. Well first off I'll wait the refund to show up on my bank account.  :D
