Who are your Holy Trinity?

Ok - a follow on from a comment that JT made in a thread...

In the past 3 players : Beck, Clapton and Page were referred to as a Holy Trinity, and sure enough in their day they were where it was at .

And to a certain extent their greatness was expressed to a greater extent in the USA where thery had a huge effect on players there.

But who would you classify as your own personal Holy Trinity?

List:
1) the three players who made you start playing in the first place
2) The three players who to date have had the greatest effect on you


For myself :

1: Brian May, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley

2 Randy Rhoads, Michael Schenker, George Lynch

1) Brian May, Slash, Didnt really have number 3 but I knew who hendrix was so him

2) Steve Vai, Jimmy Page and good old Mr May.

it wasn't really a particular guitarist that made me want to play i don't think. I just wanted to play an instrument and the guitar seemed to be the coolest machine around to belt out a few choons on. I always liked the music in the spaghetti westerns, and i liked those big crunchy chords in highway to hell (i guess that'll be angus young then), and queen ripping it up in my mum's car (oo, there's brian may!), and then there was the almighty Alkaline trio, and matt skiba's gut wrenching drunken heartbroken chainsaw chords (and thats the last one).

But players who've had the most effect on me would have to be;....
i. Whoever played guitar in Indian Summer - those tiny twisty riffs that build up over about 7 minutes into a chaotic mental breakdown.
ii. Warren Haynes - that man plays the blues like no other; whenever i'm bored of guitar i listen to him, and feel like i NEED to catch up!
iii. hmmm, I'll have a think and get back to you - i'm choosing between SRV, hendrix, angus...

1) Kirk Hammet and Alexi Laiho (didn't have a 3rd)
2) Kirk Hammet/James Hetfield, Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads

1. John Frusciante.
2. Jerry Cantrell.
3. Ace Frehley.

The three players who to date have had the greatest effect on you:
1. John Frusciante.
2. Buckethead.
3. Tom Morello / Mike Einziger.

John Frusciante was basically THE reason I started playing guitar, team that with the riffage of Jerry and the all-out coolness of Ace.

Tom Morello and Mike Einziger more for the use of FX and the way they constantly demonstrate the limitless ways in which you can use them. Buckethead is simply flawless in every way.

If I could play with the half the passion and intensity that John does, I'd be a happy strummer.

3 that made me start playing - In specific order..

1) Joe Satriani - Particularly when I heard Surfing with the Alien (the song, not the album)
2) Tom Morello - Particularly the whole first Rage album, one of my top 3 albums of all time probably.
3) Prolly someone totally unworthy like Kurt Cobain, or something, considering who that I was listening to some Nirvana when I started playing.

3 Players that have helped me learn the most so far:

1) Jimi Hendrix - Nuf said.
2) Jimmy Page - Great riffs, great solos.
3) Santana

3 Players which have inspired me the most, and I guess, are my current goals:

1) Paul Gilbert
2) Jason Becker
3) Guthrie Govan

The last 3 is my holy Trinity.

Players that insprired me to start:

1. Joe Satriani - If it weren't for Motorcycle Driver, I wouldn't be a guitar player.
2. Richie Sambora - Bon Jovi were responsible for my introduction to rock music
3. Steve Vai - Purely for the 'I wanna be able to do that' factor.

The three who have had the most impact on my playing:

1. Joe Satriani
2. Gary Moore (even though I'm no longer a big fan of his stuff)
3. (Probably) Billy Gibbons - used to listen to a hell of a lot of ZZ Top.

My lead style is far more blues-based than my inspiration trinity might lead people to think!

Jake E Lee - Technically amazing, flawless playing - my technique aspires to be as precise
Steve Clark - Replaced Slash as the rock n roll cool part. He wrote with emotion
Zakk Wylde - less of an influence now, but can still see his influence in my playing. maybe VH or RR instead though
