Very similar, but I think the Mira is a perfection of an average Gibson design, personally. (Aesthetically that is- I haven't actually PLAYED either of them. )

Would take the PRS any day.

It's just occured to me where PRS got the idea for the Mira from   :P

Gibson Les Paul Special Doublecut

Very much so, but of course the first few PRS guitars had that shape anyway, before he came up with the Custom shape.  I guess we can't rule out a court case, but Gibson got their fingers burned last time...

The Mira really feels very different due to the contouring and the thinner body.  And the 24 fret neck.

Phil - why do you never use your frankensteins?

Because, basically, they are shitee.

.

No, to be fair, they're not bad - I'm proud of the spray-can finishes if nothing else.  They're just not the kind of guitars I like now, they're very 80s!!    And none of them are really in working order.

One is a white superstrat with a Kahler, an Explorer headstock   and a skinny neck with a TO-approved 1-3/4" nut.  Another is a single-pickup Jackson Soloist type with a Floyd and very suspect intonation (nice blue colour though).  The third is a modified Fender Bronco body with a Tele bridge, and the fourth is a butchered and resprayed Squier Strat (that's the pickup-tester).

The latter two only have one neck between them (the Squier was 24-3/4" scale but I converted it to 25-1/2") so I guess really they should only count as 1.5 guitars....

That guitar predates the invention of digital photography, so I had to resort to a dodgy scan.  This was about 1987/88 - the EMGs are long gone.  And note it's a Kahler fulcrum trem, not the cam type:

Here's the blue one too, while I'm at it.  It has a colour-matched headstock, but you can't tell from the pic:

Love that blue Charvel-esque. Nice indeed. Intonation? Well who cares, just play louder to compensate

Hey that Mira, just re-read that review in Guitarist, some georgeous detail shots there in the mag, are those poti knobs actually as nice as on those pictures?

They're like little lampshades.  I guess the faceted sides make them a bit easier to grip, but with non-sweaty fingers they're much like regular knobs!  Neat idea though.

Those superstrats are gorgeous!

What did you say was wrong with the white one?

Cheers!  :D

Nothing wrong with it - just that I'm not into superstrats any more, and the wide/skinny neck is almost the opposite of what I like now.  That Kahler trem is a great unit, good sustain and works really well.

I'd never sell it though.  I'll find some pickups for it at some point, so at least it's in working order.

Well, I'd probably only get £200 or something for it with no "name" on the headstock, but the sentimental value's much more than that.  I'd feel bad about selling it.

(Which isn't a way of talking the price up, by the way...   )

Very nice Myra Phil, always GASsed for a PRS but never got around to it.

I think the Mira is more of a late 70's Gibson theme, a DC version of the Marauder and THE Paul. Or at least the body seems similar, offcourse in single cutaway.

PS. Glad to see im not the only one with a horse statue in the window

Haha, that's my parents' house, 20 years ago.  I like the horse though, can't remember if they still have it.
