Starts on Sunday in America/Canada, so can be downloaded in the UK the day after!

Just watched City of God, incredible film!

edit - and also re-watched Ferris Buellers Day Off. I'm loving these 80s comedies at the minute, what else is good? I don't think I've ever seen Caddyshack :o

just catching up with breaking bad again - must admit i lost interest for the first 5 episodes of season 2 but now i am past that it has become compulsive viewing again

US Tv has got good again with the new dexter and boardwalk empire starting, walking dead coming soon and comedy favourites like community, parks and rec and big bang theory all showing again

yeah, city of god is amazing, must watch that again at some point - i think i have city of men somewhere around here as well

Was that the first time you've seen it, Tom?

I saw it in the cinema - knowing very little about it in advance - and thought it was one of the best films I've ever seen.

But I've never dared to watch it again since, it case it's dated and the "magic" has gone!

I bought Downfall the other day. Of course I got to the bit that they use for the parodies and my mind wandered a bit but came back a bit after.
The film was well done I thought but I am not a film buff so I am probably easily pleased. Not like you intellectuals. I was waiting to see what would happen in the end.

I am a film buff - dunno about intellectual - and I think it's a brilliant film.

I don't often come in this thread - I was searching for something else - but I spotted this.

How many films called Downfall are there? I only know of the one... based on Traudl Junge's (one of Hitler's secretaries) book and various other sources.

If that's the one you mean Philly - yes, SUPERB film... but... er, parodies??? What sort of idiotic @rse would make parodies about what's in that film? At the moment, I can't even imagine which part(s) could be parodied without me feeling an irrational desire to slap the people who thought they could make it funny ...

But mebbe (I'm hoping) it's a different film that you guys are talking aout?

Same film, Andy.

There are various clips on YouTube where they're taken some of the scenes where Hitler is ranting, and changed the dialogue so he's going on about something trivial.  I can't think of examples, because I haven't seen them for ages.

They're quite funny in a way, but it does annoy me that Bruno Ganz's excellent performance has come to be better known due to parodies.  And that the people watching them probably don't even know the film they're taken from.

I'm pretty sure there are some football related ones.  At the time of watching I doubt very much that I had any knowledge as to what film they came from. Maybe I should give it a viewing (the film, not the youtube vids).
I think I hate being indecisive.

Just got to the end of this year's London Film Festival.

Saw some pretty good stuff, including Alexander Payne's new film with George Clooney, The Descendants, and a cracking Norwegian thriller, Headhunters.

So what are peoples recommendations for decent horror films for the weekend then? I've got Let Me In on Sky+ but fancy something else.

That's too big a question, Tom!  :P

Let Me In is very good if you haven't already seen it (not as good as Let The Right One In, but not too far off)

Speaking for myself, I will be at the Frightfest All-nighter...

Breaking Bad season 4 finale was amazing. Best show on TV imo, tops The Wire for me. As well as having a great storyline, the cinematography is incredible - especially in the desert scenes, everything looks so nice. Won't spoil anything but will just say Walter White is a badass :D

finally caught up and finished BB.  it was awesome

just cant believe there is going to be another series  - it was kinda nicely wrapped up other than a couple of small loose ends... but thank god for no cliffhanger
