Saw the Ip Man film the other day.  Amazing - waiting for it to come out on DVD in this country.

Anyone who likes their Chinese martial arts films should watch it.
According to Amazon it's out on 26th of October

There was a tv shows thread but it sank a bit! I'm also addicted to house, currently working my way through the S1-4 boxset :)

I've recently got into Breaking Bad as well. Short first 2 seasons from the looks of things but so far its a really good series.

Whats this Burn Notice about then? I'm always looking for new tv series to get addicted to!

I tried True Blood but sadly thought it was utter shite. Incredibly cheesy and full of annoying characters, as far as I could tell!

Speaking of shite, which true blood most emphatically wasnt, the vampire diaries

Yeah, a tv series version of twilight; thats EXACTLY what the world needs.

it does tend to split the crowd - not sure why.  i think its awesome!!.

i did watch the first 2 episodes of vampire diaries which is typical teen drama in the twilight vein.  not great, not awfull... just not for me!!

I just watched all of harpers island, the first 5 episodes are fairly bad, almost funny.  5 episodes of people dying without anyone realising they are missing or asking any questions.  it all kicks of after that though and gets pretty darn good.  Interesting to see the scream style film format stretched over a whole series

currently waiting for new dexter and caprica to start

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel - There are a few good gags and I though the 3 main actors did the best they could with a poor script but I felt there was a massive wasted opportunity for a good geek comedy. The ending was particularly lazy, though I presume it was meant to be a Back to the Future reference.

Push - Just terrible, bad script, awful acting, predictable plot and lifeless script.

For TV stuff, I've just finished Entourage Series 5 which was great, I'm a big Entourage fan, the acting and writing are top-notch. And Dollhouse Series 1, it starts a little slow but I'm starting to get into it. It does help that I've a huge crush on Olivia Williams

I used to post stuff, maybe ten years ago, but not anymore.  There are some terrible people out there passing themselves off as martial artists - Wing Chun is still in a shocking state, unfortunately.  When I was young(er) and stupid I got caught up in all that, but I tend to avoid it these days.

I take it from your username you train?  What style?

Choy Li Fut and San Shou.
How many Wing Chun guys does it take to change a light bulb? 100. One to actually screw it in and 99 to say "my way is truer to WC principles/more authentic/the true secret teachings................"

yeah, yeah, yeah.  Heard it all before!

;)

To be fair, it has calmed down.  Still a great little system, if you avoid the politics and BS.

I haven't seen the trailer, but the title (obviously) makes me think of Liar, Liar.  Which is not a good thing to be reminded of. :|

Last 3 days seen a few films:

Transformers 2: Pretty awful tbh, great cgi though, superb action movie for kids, but crazy thin plot as expected.

Dean Spanley: Great film! Peter O'toole's brilliant in it, it meanders, and is very surreal, but it really is a lovely movie.

The Hurt Locker: Absolutely incredible film about a bomb disposal team in Iraq. Character's are great, action's great, tension's great. Best war film in a while imo.
