^ is that the one with denzel washington? i can't remember much about it, but thought it was quite good when i saw it...

Because it's 1,000,000 times better seeing a film on the big screen than it is seeing it on DVD.

(Assuming you don't have an audience full of noisy chavs texting their mates)

yeah, but i'm guessing parents buying a disney movie for their kids aren't going to be too concerned about that.

Yeah, it was decribed as a science fiction thriller.... but it should've said tedious, superficial romance (with voyeuristic and necrophiliac elements  :? ) with a bit of science fiction and about 4 seconds of thrills.

That's true - and they can take said kids (and their friends) to the cinema for about £3 each, then they'll buy the DVD anyway and the kids will watch it every day for 2 weeks then forget about it.  So Disney still get their DVD money whether people have seen the film in the cinema or not.  I still don't see why they're trying to reduce the "theatrical window".

Watched Outlander, it's quite good, cross between Beowulf and Predator. It sags in bits but if you're into Vikings, it'll be OK. Also watch Terminator - Salvation, I kept on losing attention during it. I thinks it's all the big effects scenes, they just leave me cold, look so fake.

On the TV front just finished In Treatment - Series 1, I really liked it. It's very much like a stage play (mostly two person dialogue), is a little unrealistic and soapy but well acted with interesting characters.

Saw "Up in the Air".  It was OK, all the performances were fine but it meandered a lot.  The only thing I can compare it to are Woody Allen's less successful character ensemble pieces.

necrophiliac elements.............and about 4 seconds of thrills.

Surely not in the same scene!
I think I hate being indecisive.

All a matter of personal taste, I suppose....

Anyway, this evening I am watching Big Daddy and Anger Management - a promise to some dedicated Adam Sandler fans I work with.   Hmmm.  :?

Then I'm going to watch Lars Von Trier's Antichrist to cheer myself up.....

Try watching him in Bedtime Stories. You'll be forking your eyes out before the end.

So I watched Antichrist.  It's very, very good.... but highly disturbing.  Not sure I could watch it again anytime soon.  :?

no way you could have known that before watching it, it's not like there was a gigantic media circus surrounding it when it was released or anything like that.
