Centurion which was rubbish and the really annoying thing is it would have been easy to massively improve it. The dialogue is some of the worst I've ever heard, much of it unintentional funny. The many fight scenes are realistically gore filled but are boring. The parallels draw with current campaigns are clumsy and the ending is tacked on.

Is that the Neil Marshall one?  He showed so much promise with his first two films, then got ludicrously self-indulgent (far too early in his career) on Doomsday, and it sounds like he's gone wrong again.  I hope he gets back on track.  :?

Yes, it's a Neil Marshall film, he also scripted the film, which is where he may have gone wrong.

I watched Extract yesterday, it is billed at a follow up to Office Space but isn't in the same league but is way better than Idiocracy. The set up is opposite to Office Space, the Boss is a good guy and the workers are idiots. There are quite a few funny moments and the performances are good but the plot is a bit jumbled and has too many concurrent story lines. Feels more like a pilot for a TV show than a film.

Just watching Shaun Of The Dead

In a couple of hours, I'll be driving down to London and staying just around the corner from where it was filmed.  I might have to go and get myself a Cornetto (again) from the shop.

There's another road in the local area that is due to be closed for a film shoot soon (I think Mr Pegg lives on this road).  So maybe they're doing something else at the minute.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Wherebouts is it?  I don't think it's south London, but the houses and street layouts are very similar to the ones in my area - I can easily imagine Shaun of the Dead taking place in Streatham.   :)

yeah idiocracy was fairly poor, especially considering how good office space was.

I'll have to keep an eye out for extract. :)

Idiocracy was a mediocre comedy, good horror: too plausible!

Yeah, a good - and depressingly plausible - concept, but they did absolutely nothing with it.

I just watched Southland Tales.  It's a horrible, horrible mess and I really don't think Richard Kelly knew what he was doing most of the time, but I can't help admiring his ambition.  Surprisingly bearable performances from The Rock and Seann William Scott, too.  :?

In a so-bad-it's-brilliant way, or just brilliant?

Just brilliant seeing them all together & playing as an ensemble... can't wait for a sequel.
