Valhalla Rising - I said in a previous review that I would like any film with Vikings and that trend continues. Someone described it as like reading Norse Sagas while on acid and that pretty much sums it up. Not much happens, there's very little dialogue but the violence is well done and the camera work is great. There's an almost continuous montage of stunning sepia landscapes.
Black Death - Coincidently quite similar to
Valhalla Rising, in fact a few of the sound effects are the same. Group of Knights recruit a monk to help them bring a Necromancer to the Bishop. Your reaction to previous sentence will tell if this film is worth watching. I enjoyed it but I did spend my teenage years playing D&D and still don't consider it wasted time
The Road - Ultra bleak film about a Father and son trying to survive a post-apocalyptic future. I love when films are grim but even I was thinking 'this better end well' and I normally hate happy ending. Excellent film, don't watch if your feeling down.
Up in the Air - Part satire about modern business ethics, part rom/com; works much better than it should. I highly recommend this film. Great script, fantastic performances, perfect blend of dark and light moments.
