Kick Ass - once again took me ages to get round to watching this but I loved it. Thought it wouldn't be my kinda film but again I was wrong :D I'm guessing with that ending there'll be a Kick Ass 2?

I think that depends on how successful it was!  My impression is that it did OK, but wasn't a huge hit - and has subsequently been somewhat overshadowed by Scott Pilgrim.

According to Wikipedia (which is always correct!) -

Kick-Ass
Budget   $28 million
Gross revenue   $96,130,462

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Budget   $85–90 million ($60 million after tax rebates)
Gross revenue   $47,226,276

Looks like Scott Pilgrim lost money, which is a great surprise to me!

Blimey! - shows how deceptive "impressions" can be (and that I should check my facts first  ).

Shrek Forever After - There are some good bits but overall it's a disappointment, much like Shrek the Third. The story is heavily influenced by It's a Wonderful Life (Shrek experiences what the Kingdom would be like if he never existed) but it just doesn't work. I'm sure kids will love it but adults can pass.

I watched Gamer earlier to pass a few hours.

I had very low expectations for it, mainly going by comments in this thread , but I thought it was ok.

It was never going to be Oscar winning material, but there's worser films out there imo!

Hmmmm..... not many.  :|

Actually Gabriel ran it pretty close.  It had a similar itchy-finger-on-the-fast-forward-button quality.

I can't stand that bloke!  Not that he's a bad actor really (although he's appalling in Gamer), it's his face - he always looks like he's smirking, even when he isn't.  He's always irritated me, even way back in Six Feet Under.

Dexter S5 finale was.. ok. Disappointing ending, it all felt a bit rushed.

Youth in Revolt - Another film were Michael Cera tries to lose his virginity. It's not bad, the first 20-30 mins are particularly good but after the introduction of his alter-ego François, the film takes a nose dive. If you're a Cera fan it could be worth a look.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - I'm going against the trend on this one but I quite liked it. It's pretty much an updated old-school swashbuckler, as someone obsessed with Sinbad as a child, I welcome it. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a good film, the script is rubbish and the plot is all-over-the-place but it is (mostly) action fun. There's a sub-message about invading a city based on lies obtained from a spy about powerful weapons that is so tacked on I was chocking with disbelief! Like so many, a little tweaking could have made it into a good film.

I'm working my way through all 29 episodes of Twin Peaks at the minute.

I'm on about episode 16 I think so far, but really enjoying it.

It's quite slow moving but very weird and surreal. You can certainly see where it went on to influence the X Files etc.
