just watched the running man on tv.   its a film i grew up with since i was too young and still love massively... but watching it with the wife does ruin it slightly.

she found it odd that the tv audience that had knowingly gone to see a gameshow involving bloody violent deaths, cheering at every moment, were suddenly outraged when the presenter turned out to have told a porky or two!

still, so many good/bad one liners in that film

Archer - brilliant animated comedy tv series :D It is stupid and very American in the sense of humour, but I can't stop watching it!

Tangled - Solid effort from Disney, better than I expected. Good music (if you like a show tune), well voiced and good humor... worth a watch.

And on the TV front, True Blood - Season 3 while not as good as the first season it has a more interesting story arc then Season 2.

I quite liked how they varied from the novels with the TV series whilst loosely keeping to certain events.

It's like an alternative story.

I'm not averse to an Arnie film - some are good, some are bad, but nearly all are watchable (I just bought Last Action Hero on Blu-ray  8) ).

But I never really liked The Running Man, maybe because I'd already read the book but I think it's partly because it co-stars Maria Conchita Alonso, an actress I always find irritating.

Looking forward to the upcoming releases of the Conan films though!

Heartless - pretty good I thought! Funny in places and not really scary, I would have classed it more as a thriller/psychological thing than strictly a horror.

Just seen the trailer for Take Shelter, looks like it will be a good'un!

Research shows that people are more likely to approve of violence if they are led to believe it's justified. My wife doesn't understand why I like Commando :(

Agreed Philly. I found her very irritating in that film. I thought she was also in Predator but couldn't see her listed in IMDB though so I may be mistaken.

As for The Running Man, the book was much better than the film.

She's in Predator 2, maybe you were mixing up your predators?   It was another irritating Latin-American actress in Predator

Which reminds me, I still haven't seen Predators.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Probably the best of the series so far (that's not saying much) but still a very average film. The acting is wooden and the dialogue is terrible. Avoid unless you are a fan of the previous efforts.

Exit Through The Gift Shop - This is a fantastic film, whether it's a hoax or not isn't important, if anything it adds something. It has that 'can I believe what I'm seeing' reminiscent of F for Fake... highly recommended.

X-Men: First Class - I really enjoyed it*.  The 60's James Bond vibe the bad guys had going on was really cool.

*I'm quite a big x-men fan, so I may be a little biased.

Lemmy - Documentary about, er, Lemmy.....  It's very well done, with lots of comments from luminaries of the rock/metal world, and you do eventually get a surprising amount of insight into Lemmy's life history, although he's not the most garrulous bloke in the world.  My only criticism would be that perhaps it's a little too reverential - the only hint of anything less than outright worship comes from the members of Hawkwind - there still seems to be some bad blood there.

Good Blu-ray, too, with loads of extra music, interviews and features (although it looks like the US Blu-ray has even more bonus content)
