In that case, I'm not aware of any really good UK compilations.  Many of the classic Warner, Fox and Columbia noir titles are available separately in the UK, but that's going to be pricey...

I think Warner (UK) have some Bogart and Cagney box sets - try HMV, they may have been HMV exclusives.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Thanks Philly!

ok, not a film - but i am currently watching ulysses 31 again - its got to be 20 years + since i watched it last

yes, the dialogue and animation is pretty bad... but its got a respectable amount of anti religiosity, has some quite dark moments... and a guitar or synth solo every few minutes.  i can see why i liked this so much as a kid!

on the same theme, i tried to rewatch thundercats which was a massive disappointment - but the new series of that is actually ok

next week is for starfleet

Megamind - It's OK but no more than that. There's something missing, doesn't come to life like the best animation.

Gnomeo and Juliet - Average animated re-telling of Shakespeare with various Elton John songs shoehorned in.

Your Highness - I really wanted to like this film as it's a parody of '80s sword & sorcery movies (Krull, ladyhawk, etc.) but it's just not funny. How the hell did they get Natalie Portman to join the cast!

Source Code - Excellent sci-fi thriller with a good performance from Jake Gyllenhaal I though the happy ending was a little tagged-on but it makes the whole thing fun and uplifting.

Confucius - An film trying to be epic and failing, too reverential, the characters never seem real.

never watched ulysses 31 (i don't think), but my theory for why i like 80s metal and the like is that all the kids' shows in the 80s had, as you said, a guitar solo about every 30 seconds  I was too young to be into the music and bands at the time, but as the soundtracks to the kids' shows i was watching were pretty similar, I guess they just influenced my music taste a lot.

and thundercats was awesome. I haven't watched it for a while, but i remember watching an episode or two fairly recently, and it still seemed awesome :)

I downloaded the entirety of Ulysses 31 and Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors a couple months ago and have been working through them. Tremendous fun.

In similar nostalgic fun, I also watched Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man the other night. Total nonsense with shambolic acting but it's great fun. As Loomer posted on my facebook, you know it was made in the 80's when the aspiring rock-star protagonist is a keyboard player.

Tonight's episode of Breaking Bad was brilliant, best of this season so far :D Won't say any more for fear of spoilers.

Also just watched a film called Tony. Pretty good, gritty British film about a serial killer.

Rescue Dawn - Werner Herzog film with an excellent performance from Christian Bale. There's something 'traditional' about this film (in a good way), it's an old-fashion human story told through over coming adversity... very good.

In the Valley of Elah - Tommy Lee Jones does a superb job as the central character but many aspects of the film are heavy-handed and predictable. However the theme (stress in the military) is interesting... worth watching.

Clash of the Titans - Slammed by critics everywhere but I though it was OK. I have very good memories of the original having watch it in the cinema when I was 9 IIRC. It's not a great film and the dialogue is seriously dodgy but if you like the genre, you'll be OK with this.

Invictus - Very well reviewed but I didn't enjoy it. Very reverential and sentimental, the direction and acting are good but I found it difficult to connect with. Even though I'm a rugby fan the re-staging of the games are dull.

Transformers 2 (Revenge of the Fallen) - Dialogue written by a 5 year old child, bewildering/incomprehensible plot, cheesy as hell. This isn't the worst film I've ever seen but it's damn close... absolute garbage.

Killing Bono - Doesn't work for me, it's about 45 mins too long and it's difficult to care about the main character. The last 20 mins (or so) are quite good.... average film.

Of Gods and Men - French language film about a group of Christian monk in Algeria who come into contact with Islamic fundamentalists. Doesn't sound promising but what unfolds is one of the best films I've ever seen. The acting performances are beyond belief, ever single monk is a fully rendered character with the entire spectrum of human emotion. This film personifies everything that is cinema... a must see.

The only word I have for tonights episode of Breaking Bad is "intense"! S4 really kicked it up a notch in the past few episodes.

I Saw the Devil
Exactly as good as I had expected from a brilliant director working with excellent actors.
A seriously gritty, dark and violent as $%&# movie about revenge.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Season 2 is shaping up to be just as good as season 1. A pleasent surprise, now that Lauren Faust isn't the director anymore.

I like the ones I've seen.
My favourite movie is Oldboy, but I really dig Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mister Vengeance as well.
Joint Security Area is perhaps my all-time favourite war movie.
I'm a Cyborg, but that's okay has the best movie title ever, and is a great movie compared to the others in the genre romantic comedy).
My favourite scary movie is A Tale of Two Sisters, too.
