Ehhh...  Maybe something from the Terminator series... :tfrag:
The appeasement program was a punishment for me buying both a guitar and a gun in the same week, just so happened that a couple of incredible deals foisted themselves upon me almost simultaneously.

The Avengers - pretty good! Not quite as good as the hype but it was an awesome action film with constant fights. The Hulk was awesome in it :D

Prometheus. 6/10. Seriously underwhelming. Awash with Hollywood box ticking, bland, one-note characters and spectacular stupidity displayed by everyone on screen. It looks marvellous though, which earns almost all of those six marks.

I think if Scott could have decided between making an action flick or 2001 it might have come out far better.

I don't often come in this thread, but I thought "if there's a post here today, it MUST be by someone who's seen Prometheus..."

I only heard it existed a day or so ago, and I am vaguely interested. But I have to admit that my expectations for it were no higher than what you describe, nfe...

So I'll count that as a "good review"!!!

My wife might actually manage to get me to go to the cinema to see a film! (don't anyone hold their breath though, it is after all only 4 days off with this double bank holiday, and this sofa is terribly terribly comfortable...)

AGREE! The stand-alone Hulk films just don't work. I don't think Hulk will ever work on his own on the big screen, he's actually surprisingly un-transferrable from the page to the cinematic world, BUT when he's sharing the screen with the other Avengers he really shines.

Also, Hulk has quite possibly single-handedly given me my fave scene in any film of the last 5 years. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen this film, so I will say only this: "Puny God."

Some films I've seen recently, and my reviews.

Conan the Barbarian: Dont bother. Dreadful. Not quite dreadful enough to be good because its dreadful; just dreadful.

Immortals: Dont expect more than some Ok fight scenes and you should be entertained enough.

Primer: Good god what a hard film to watch. And so $%&#ing awesome. I love it. I'm not quite sure what happened, but its brilliant. Very original and extremely intelligently written film. I'm also pretty sure its budget was lower than the cost of my main rig (though it doesnt show, and it doesnt seem like it needs more in the least; its not that kind of film - you'll have to see it to understand).

The thing prequel: Not disappointing. It doesnt have the visceral gratuity of the first (largely CGI Vs real effects, I think), and it lacks the claustrophobic tension of the first, and some scenes are practically copy and pasted, but its watchable enough.

Cowboys and Aliens: really surprisingly awesome. I'm impressed that it manages to pull off the what the title implies without being at all goofy. Very standard issue in its overall feel, major beats and general predictability, but all round it deploys default action and scifi tropes with a gimmicky twist quite enjoyably.

Thank you for smoking. Tries to be cleverer than it really is. Pretty funny though.

Pretty much my favourite mind-$%&# film. It took me about 4 or 5 viewings in various states of being (finally half cut seemed to be about right), before I finally think I had got my head around all the timelines and what was going on. Brilliant film for those with the patience.

I've definitely seen it (in fact I think I have it on DVD).  Can't remember a damn thing about it, except I thought it was very good.

I've seen Primer once and it didn't really catch me. I might have to give it another go.

Just read the synopsis - sounds good! I just added 'Primer' to my Netflix queue. Prometheus looks damn cool as well, I might go catch that some time this week.

I can't be bothered to read 145 pages (Who can?) to see if Thankskilling, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, or Hobo With a Shotgun were mentioned, but all three are great comedic B-Movies.

I love Primer but I still don't really understand it after watching it about 5 times  It's an enjoyable watch still. There's a flow chart somewhere on the internet that explains it all.

The Raid - awesome! Probably one of the best action films I've seen, it's just non stop fighting with some interesting camera stuff, a good look and soundtrack.

21 Jump Street - much better than I thought it would be, it was still a stupid comedy but not unbareable like some of them are!

Currently halfway through the first episode of that Dead Set channel 4 tv series from a few years ago (big brother + zombies). Really enjoying it so far!

Yeah, it was pretty good.  You can tell Charlie Brooker, the writer, really understood both reality TV (from his TV critic days) and the "rules" of zombie movies.
