I think that the Police were pretty old when they hit.  And Dire Straits possibly.

yeah, knopfler looked about 80 when sultans of swing came out.

kidding, dire straits are/were awesome.

Actually, I don't see why not... I seem to remember Ian Anderson explaining something along these lines when I saw Jethro Tull's, er, 20th, 25th (?) Anniversary tour...

- hey, in that case I'm 26 sometimes!!!

Happy Birthday Gwem!

29 is nothing, your 30's are better than our 20's imo as your just so much wiser. My 30's were brilliant.
Don't have kids if you don't want them either. Like Twinfan says you don't have to conform, plus there are way too many people in the world anyway. I couldn't think of a better way for my life as i know it to come to an abrupt halt.
Your young have fun, travel do what you want and you will be happy!

:D

managed to get through it ok - normal gwEm service is resumed! i'm this way almost every birthday, its just as well i have some good mates to big me up. this year was a bit different though, since my grandmother's funeral is today (day after my birthday) and so its put things into perspective somewhat with the limited time we have available to us in the world.

on realistic consideration though, you guys are entirely right, it seems like i have another five years or so to persevere with my music. i just write what comes naturally, as i hope lead my life, no plans to sell out.

i'm really happy that so many people on this forum are older than me and live by the same set of rules, apparantly with fruitful results!

rock and roll, and a toast to everyone.

we must really hook up for a jar or two in the next 12 months.

A big +1 on that

- In case I'm sounding as if I want to be younger... NO WAY!! There's some groovy stuff I miss (eg being able to stand up straight without having to do it consciously, run up stairs, that sort of thing ), but I don't miss all the angst that seemed to go with the good stuff.

Life really did "begin at 40" for me - and I thought it was just a cliche...
And it just seems to get better every day if you live in the moment :D

Glad the day went well gwEm.

gwEm, I wondered what on earth Kilby was on about - but it seems I completely missed the bit about your grandmother in your post when I read it - sorry to hear about that, puts a completely different perspective on the day I'd been imagining for you...
