lol, I don't really like Slipknot, but originally thought, hhmmm, he's quite metal, he's surely not going to look gay!

And now I just realised I posted a picture of him covered in make-up, pulling a strange face.

Ah well. :) lol, I was never a huge tele fan, bought a 52 reissue, and now I love 'em!

Slipknot's new album is good. Don't like the older stuff much. They have some good riffs in the new album. :)

It's the bulbous top horn more than anything else for me. Take that away with a proper cutaway or less bulbous like an LP and you have the start of something that's not gay.
Of course it goes without saying that the horrible bridge and controls and headstock all need to be changed, but those are secondary to the top horn. It just looks cr@p. I don't believe for a SECOND that you can't get EXACTLY the same sounds that you tele lovers are after with a guitar that has those changes I just mentioned.

And yes, even that tele looks total sh1t, because of the stupid top horn. And no, I'm not a slipknot fan, either.

Thing is, we can never really "win" this argument, because even if we found a picture of whoever you guys think is the coolest cool person ever in the world playing a Tele and looking totally f*ckin cooler than cool...

... you'd never admit how cool it was.  :(

I think you secretly just want to change the shape of the top bout from it's current "bulbous" form, which has curves that look a lot like a woman's breast..  Into a cutaway, horn shape which looks a lot more like a man's penis.. Yet you are saying that Telecaster's make a player look gay..

Also changing the headstock shape would make behind the nut bends a lot harder to do, which is a good advantage of a Tele headstock.

Also changing the bridge would change the tone of the guitar IMO. I don't think you could get the distinct Tele bridge sound without the metal bridge plate.

And changing the control plate by either mounting them on a scratchplate like a strat or rear-routing them would make changing/working on electronics a lot harder than when you can remove the whole plate..

I can't think of any more pointless arguments to make yet, I'm getting tired.

Actually I find working on Tele electronics incredibly annoying - it bugs me having to take off the bridge to change the pickup, and unless you leave all the leads ludicrously long you have to do a lot of soldering dangerously close to the guitar.

Whereas with a Strat you can do everything (bar soldering the jack and a couple of grounds) while the guitar itself is safely out of the way in another room.

Injecting a bit of Freud into guitars are we?  However, LPs are of an exquisite female figure, and i am quite enamored with LP aesthetics.  In fact, you might say that LPs are far more womanly in form than a Telecaster.  If you were to attribute the qualities of a telecaster to a woman, you would have, just as with the guitar itself, a very ungainly looking female.  However, if you were to attribute the specific qualities of the LP to a woman, you would have the epitome of the female form and its inherent beauty.

But it's so much fun to argue about in'it?  I don't hate tele players nearly to the extent that Roo does, but i do think (in general) they are disgusting instruments.
