I too am a fan of the USA inasmuch as every time I have been there, I have loved it and have enjoyed a warm welcome. I have a few friends there too and my son has made it his home. OK so they go a little overboard with their sports but bless them, they just want to be loved.

This is pretty much what Stephen Fry says on his 'Stephen Fry in America' programme. It's great viewing, there is something about him that I find very entertaining. He didn't think much of Miami though - apparently full of beautiful people that are ugly due to their beauty. I have never been so couldn't possibly comment!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Everyone knows that cheese rolling is the ultimate sport. What can be more fun than watching the village idiots chase a big wheel of cheese down a stupidly steep hill.

Now let's get this straight - I've not come across it - is this cheese thing an English or an American thing?

English thing- where they run as fast as they can down a steep hill to catch a roll of cheese. It's actually quite entertaining to see, but there are seem rather serious injuries involved. :D

Sounds quite entertaining...

Anyone else here ever been to Ottery St Mary in Devon on bonfire night?

I've only ever been there once, years ago, I assume they still do it.

It involves p1ssed-up locals, running through village streets packed with with revellers, with open-ended barrels on their backs... (insides coated with tar and on fire, of course)

I thought it was quite amusing until I got stuck in a shop doorway as this flaming tar barrel went past my nose... It wasn't until I got that close that I realised how heavy these things were, how hot they were, and how near to collapse the chaps who were carrying them were

I'm not sure it qualifies as a sport though.

I think it qualifies as a psychiatric illness...
