But still... don't! :)

No more clips yet, you'll have to wait until after band practice tonight! :)

I can't wait!  I have been having wet dreams about a similar instrument 7 string version (maybe not the exact same shape, but maybe ;) ).  That bass drone, FVCK!!!! :):):):):)

I was playing around with a middle-8 section to Precious Things (one of our tracks which I think is still up on Myspace with the old vocalist singing). It's got a long bottom A drone with some slightly widdly stuff on the other strings. It sounds so alive on the new guitar, and the bass note comes through the whole phrase really strongly. I shall get a recording of that tonight, for sure :)

I might also try to get some other clean/crunchy stuff down, as this instrument sounds fantastic for more classical/bluesy stuff than I could possibly have imagined beforehand. But of course, it handles brutality with abandon. It can even take the band off and handle brutality again. :D

I'll keep you posted :)

Do you have to transpose all the songs you know to baritone tuning now? Or were you playing a de-tuned guitar before that matches this tuning? Or are you just gonna play in whatever key the guitar makes it?

Naa, previously I de-tuned my Ibanez RG470 to the same tuning with big strings. Naturally, on a 25.5" scale, that wasn't great! Hence the need for a baritone, and, well the rest is history :)

I must apologise profusely for the atrocious playing, but this is all I have for the minute, so I thought I'd just upload some excerpts from Tuesday night's practice.
Also, some of these chop off most unceremoniously. I haven't found a way to fade with Garageband and can't copy these onto my main machine (where I use Cubase) because I'm currently on the bus!
Recorded at very high volume, and the mic was on one of the EVM12L-Black label speakers this time just for fun. At some point I will get a chance to record some stuff properly, but various things have happened this week, including a (not unexpected, but nonetheless upsetting) death in the family, which have meant I've not been in a position to dedicate much time to recording.

First up some guitar on its own:
Precious = Clean section, just a few bars to show the sustain.
MOAR and Octaves: High gain stuff.

Again, sorry for the poor playing :( Wanted to do this guitar justice at the first practice, but like I said above, extraneous factors have left me somewhat more tired this week than I would otherwise have been, and it showed in my playing.

And one of the guitar in the band setting, with our new song Into the Woods (this is the fourth time of playing it).

I've just read my post above, and what I didn't say was that the guitar was really, REALLY nice to play! The one thing I'm finding it slower to get used to that I expected was the need to have my hands slightly further apart than before, because of the longer scale length. Even slides with a bar from the twelfth fret to the first are really natural feeling, which if you think about it is weird because you have to change the angle of your fingers on the way down!
Again, the wood feels absolutely amazing, and the neck is a real dream to play on. It's been fantastic for me as a player so far, and I've had her for less than a week - I just keep wanting to pick her up and get playing!

Is it just me or are the distorted clips really muddy?

The bass drones on the new clean are fvcking unbelievable.
