Yep, that sounds good Wez/TF... you want a "custom custom" Tom!

EDIT: You posted while I was typing Tom - yep the bound teles (and you're describing my main one) are called "custom tele", or were, anyway...

A good Tele is a VERY good guitar indeed.

+1. This is what is making me selling my other guitars an easier thing to deal with. I strung the Esquire with a new set of 10's last night and it was sounding very good indeed (if you don't factor in my playing!).

I think I hate being indecisive.

I just had a look at those customs, I like the look apart from the horrible bridge cover thing.

I liked the last American Standard (I think) tele I played, I reckon they're better than strats anyway!

Do you mean the "ashtray"? It comes off, for use as an, er, ashtray! (None of my teles came with theirs).

The ash tray for the Esquire is, and always will be, in the case. I'm not a smoker so have no other use for it!

Is that one of those alabaster tele bodies - ultimate brightness, sustain, and shoulder/neck injury?

White body, black scratchplate is my favorite set up. I'm totally gagging for a white/black sg now. Would match my tele perfectly.

out of curiosity is that some sort of 3-d guitar building program or just something you cooked up yourself?

That's just me in 3DS Max and about 30 mins work, I was going to continue working on it but my desktop has been abliterated by the heat :(

I don't think i've done too bad a job so far, the neck pickup is the only real bad thing I can see, need to see a tele up close again and figure it out.

Has no one spotted my sick joke yet? Heheh <: )

Oh yeah, spotted that bit immediately Adam

If you're after issues you want to tart up - it looks like you've got a tophat selector knob, but it's a little short (it's a little short for the other type as well, but it looks like a tophat). And the neck pocket looks awfully deep - at that angle you'd be able to see the bottom of the pocket.

Otherwise - it's a class job :D

Ah yes I thought something looked wrong with the selector, I've never had a tele or really seen one up close so it was a lot of guess work after looking through pictures

There's no neck pocket yet, I plan to do some measuring on a real tele for body thickness and heel depth and then sort that part out...  and then the neck, which I'm absolutely dreading but it'll be well worth it. Need to get my main system back up and running first, this laptop which im stuck with barely copes with youtube!

I was originally planning on doing this, a strat, RG, LP, SG and then some other guitar styles... then offering to try different looks for people, maybe distribute it and guiding people towards the free learning edition of 3dsmax so they can change colours etc.

Could be good for people trying to pre visualise parts/custom guitars and a good technical challenge for myself :)

If you want to see how others have modelled necks you could do worse than get a copy of Google Sketchup and download some of the models people have built for that.  There are some handy exporters (OBJ I know for certain) that other folks have written for Sketchup to enable you to export the models without having to buy the pay-for version of Sketchup.  They're worth a look, there's some very good models out there.

Thats good to hear :) However Ive just done a bit of reading up on the specs for the Fender Vintage '62 Custom and realised it has a 7.25" radius. I hate narrow radius (another reason why I want another Gibson style).

The only way I'm going to get what I want is a Warmoth at this rate which is basically custom
