The main difference is that the McCarty has a thicker body. It also has vintage style tuners, a thinner headstock (I think) and McCarty pickups, and there are probably also some arcane differences in the timbers.
The Modern Eagle has the rosewood neck, different pickups and hardware again... I'm not sure about the body thickness.
Dave will correct me on the details!
You're pretty much there, Phil ;)
Custom 22 - thinner mahogany back, thicker headstock, locking tuners, 5-way switch, Dragon II pickups, wide fat or wide then neck options, 3-way switch option (plus the usual PRS 10 top, gold hardware and birds options)
McCarty - thicker mahogany back, wide fat neck only, thinner headstock and non-locking tuners, McCarty pickups, Eastern Maple top (as used on old LPs), plus the usual PRS 10 top, gold hardware and birds options. This model is now discontinued, except for the McCarty Korina and the McCarty Smokeburst and the odd special run.
Original Modern Eagle - based on the McCarty but withthe thicker headstock andlocking tuners of the Custom 22, built by the Private Stock team with some work done on the regular production line, top grade woods chosen, mixed hardware, RP pickups, solid Brazilian Rosewood neck, abalone birds, thin matt nitroceullose finish, trem option. Discontinued due to issues with the paperwork required to use/import/export Brazilian Rosewood.
New Modern Eagle II - as the old one, but no Brazilian Rosewood and 57/08 pickups in place of the RPs.
