  Yep, she does have a say - she's actually quite bad for encouraging me to buy/keep certain guitars!

I don't have pics of everything I've ever owned, but maybe I'll dig some out of those I do have when I get chance.

Re. the SGs, I've had:

* '65 reissue Epiphone SG with Vibrola and Riff Raffs
sold via eBay to a guy in a Paul Weller tribute band(!) as really high notes didn't sustain well

* Original '65 SG that I had refretted and kitted out with better parts
sold to "blue" here on the forum as I thought my 'DC band had ended (then it rose like a phoenix!)

* '61 reissue Gibson SG with Vibrola
sold via another forum as I thought it was too precious to gig at the time and I wanted the cash for my Modern Eagle

* Gordon Smith SG
sold via eBay as the quality was pretty cr@ppy

* Tokai SG Special
sold via another forum as I prefer humbuckers to P90s

The Richardson and the original '65 were the best two I've had, and for me the Richardson is probably the best.  The neck is wider, which feels better for my long fingers, plus the longer 25" scale suits me better - even more so now we tune to Eb with our new singer.

Great collection and you have done well to offload a few! What is worrying is that im going the other way and seem unble to part with anything even though I really should.  8)

Seven is a good number. If you're selling, I'll take all the Fenders.

I'm not selling any of my guitars, though (though I have 14, not 28, but still :D)...

Yea, what happened to the vintage ('65?) SG? It's a collection that's a far cry from the days of the 3 identical RGs! :P

I remember that one being in seconds out last year (I think). I would have snapped it up if I had the cash!

Forgot all about that, I'd well have it had I had the chance (and money).

ditto
That guitar had soul Dave.
Bad man for selling that one. I was allowed that one by the powers that be. Just didn't have the cash at the time :(

Each to their own chaps - it just didn't work out for me.  I've no regrets about selling it.  It helped me realise that I'm not into vintage guitars  :)

Yep, shock of all horrors, I've stripped down the stable to my absolute bare minimum.  No excess flab, all the extra fat has been completely trimmed and I'm now super lean.  Thought some folks might be interested to see what's been kept, and it's also my duty to put PhillyQ to shame

I'm actually really glad I've come down from a high of 28(!) at one point, and gone for quality over quantity.

I'm feeling suitably ashamed.  32 and counting (I think).

(Although on a personal note, I have lost 2 stone of my own excess flab...)

We've all seen the buying/selling process you've been through the last few years and it looks like you've ended up with some really great guitars.  I understand the process, but I can't imagine ever getting down to just 7!  I get sentimentally attached to some guitars even when they're not really that great or "necessary".  If I were you I'd have found it hard to part with the Fano, or your original Mira or McKorina!

I had no idea you'd sold the '65 SG, I was surprised.  But fair comment about the sale, I don't regret selling my '64 SG Special either (apart from the price I got for it!  :x ).
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Great collection, I've got 8 but nothing 'special' - no keepers.

Me neither. I liked my '75 tele but that was probably due to it being put together the year I was born. It wasn't the easiest to play and was too thin sounding. My Baja beats it hands down.

I don't think I'll ever buy another vintage guitar - unless I had enough money to buy a really stand out original strat or tele.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I have only ever owned and still own one vintage guitar, the '64/'65 Epiphone Wilshire I acquired a while back. I bought that one because of a demo on Fretted Americana by He Who Philly Q Must Not Hear Named and I just loved the tone and the styling and I vowed if I found one at an acceptable price and it sounded as good as the one in the vid and I liked the feel I'd have it. I tried a couple of reissues which didn't do it for me but when I found an old one I got lucky - it's a belter. I didn't buy it because it's old, I bought it because it's a killer guitar.

Good work on really separating the wheat from the (still very tasty in this case) chaff Twinfan! Though not so fancy, my Piledrivered Tele is looking a bit worried these days...

7 is an odd number, if it were me I'd have to round it up to 8 :P Thinking of "culling my herd" down to two to raise a bit of money for my trip to Canada, but I can't bring myself to selling the Pearl just yet!

(Although on a personal note, I have lost 2 stone of my own excess flab...)

Nice one Philly! :)
