Feline does it again - cheers Jon!
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:48:49 PM »
I've just got back from Feline having had my Custom Shop Esquire in for some 'fettling'.  It's a great guitar but always felt a bit stiff to play, and while I like a bit of fight in a guitar it had just that bit too much.  A full setup, very light fret dress, nut tweaks and a string tree spacer and "The Reverend" is now playing like a dream   8)

It's always good to have a chat with Jon, see the work in progress and check out a new build that's just finished.  If you need any work doing on your guitars, Jon's the man  :D

PhillyQ - whatever you do, you NEED to speak to Jon about the Lion Cub he's just finished.  I played it and I think it has your name all over it  ;)

Here's the Esquire for those who haven't seen it before/recently...

Nice looking guitar Dave.   I agree with you about Jon. Always nice to chat  to. Knows his stuff and top notch work.

I use him when I can not been disapointed so far. :D

I just saw the neck tonight, not seen the body painted  :)

Saw it all 'raw' when I dropped the Esquire off a couple of weeks ago.

Good stuff Dave - I agree that it had a bit too much fight in it, it certainly did when I owned it. Nice to hear that it has been tamed a little.
I think I hate being indecisive.

No - think it came back since then

Still tinkering with colour of pickguard and pickup ring , need to put truss rod cover and backplate on but it's great to play already...

God how I with I lived in London^^

I really need to find a good luthier in my area (at this point these are the only people who I would trust to do a propper setup....f*ck techs).

Oh and that cub looks very nice (exept the fretboard, which to my eyes looks to bright, might by the pic thohg). I like how the paintjob, PU ring and Pu come together. Something different in a good way.
Your guitars have style about them I just really, really dig (the quality of the photos helps too). You make guitars I like in styles I usually donīt. really nice taste on you. Itīs nothing too fancy, but it feels like taking old ideas and giving them something fresh and refined. Just feels right.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n

Nice one Dave. My old Strat came back infinitely better after the ministrations of Feline guitars.

i like Jonathan's fret dresses. always comes back just how i want :) he has a good technique for doing scratchplates too. jonathan must have had his hands much of my collection by now - one way or another.

would look good with a truss rod cover of the same material as the pickguard.
