ok so theres a car parked (not entirely) across our driveway which has a dropped curb. together with this car partialyl obstructing the driveway and another one parked very close id say it was impossible to get a car out or in the driveway at all.

ow i know its actually an illegal offense doing this and i really wanna phone the police but know that they probly wont do anything.

anyone got any advice on what i should do?

it happens ALL the time cause of some tmeple thingy over the road from us, my dad has asked them to stop several times but it still happens.

im tempted to whip out my BB gun and give them a scare but recently decided against that :P

Well a complaint to the Police is probably more prudent than the use of a bb gun !

haha yer your probably right there... when i said "i decided against it" before was actuallly a lie- the batteries were dead thats the only reason why i didnt go through with it- haha!

but has this ever happened to anyone? or do they know what our rights are exactly? i know some people on here know a lot about laws and rights and stuff cause theyve replied in detail for peoples questions about stuff like unfair dismissal...

anyone?

If it is stopping a car getting in/out I'm sure you must be able to do something? I don't know what though!

You can get the police to attend if it is causing an obstruction. Whether they will attend and whether they will do anything is a different matter. I am afraid that I have totally lost faith in the police. I did have this problem many years ago with guests at a neighbours party blocking the driveway of my home and in spite of polite requests to move no action. A bunch of my mates came around and we bounced the car out of the way leaving it blocking the road. I don't know what happened after that - I never had the problem again.

Sometimes a sign near the driveway will help:

No Parking in Driveway
Cars Will Be Towed At Owner's Expense

It's more bark than bite, but you never know.

Who did your dad complain to? Did he talk to the head honcho of the temple thing? If he didn't then that's what I'd be doing, rather than asking people individually. He should ask to get them to make an announcement in one of their meetings that parking in front of your driveway is naughty.

and searcher my dad complains to the individual people as well as talking with the head guy once or twice and the owners/managers have said they told people not to park there but no one listens...

if a traffic warden walks past, he WILL ticket the car.

in town near me theres a residential area where people park, i've seen cars parked slightly over the dropped curb so they are blocking a drive.. all with tickets on. (and those that are slightly over part of a yellow line havent been ticketed..)

its an obstruction.. like if you park on the pavement, or half on half off it.

maybe phone your local police station\traffic dept up direct and advise them, take a couple of photos on the car on your mobile or something as proof.. (note the reg of the car and how many times it happens a week!) depending on where you live i'm sure there will be someone official on hand to note the reg down and tell the driver off if nothing else :)

my folks used to have problems with people blocking/partially blocking the forecourt of the garage bussiness. A call to the Police got a reg. traffic warden visit. Traffis wardens produce revenue ya know ;) Not as difficult to attain as ya might think (although this was years ago).

A friend of mine used to have people parking on his drive when they dropped their kids off at school. Blocking them in and refusing to move the car did the trick.

do it the old-fashioned way - the first time they obstruct you, let one of their tyres down. the second time, let two tyres down. generally after that they see a pattern. (although i couldn't condone taking the law into your own hands in such a manner as this...)

oooooooo i like that idea...!

just to add to that- ill let the tyres down then run upstairs and ready my BB gun- then when they come along and start protesting about how someones wrecked their car... ill shout some threatening abuse and rudely instruct them to go and reproduce somewhere or else ill shoot them...
