So people following "rock ideals" do play expensive guitars.  Just not ones which look obviously expensive.  Is that PRS' true crime?

No, this is PRS' true crime:

Jesus Christ, it looks like the time things didn't end well after a skinful of cheap lager and a big bag of Wotsits...

Blimey, what a mess.

Signed by Paul Reed Smith himself too...

Congrats TF!

The 408s are looking really good. I'm a PRS fan myself, converted after playing an SE last year. I was totally sold, and then I played a US built one. Shouldn't have done that, now I'm gassing terribly. :D

That orange SC one though, is not on the summer hit list this year :)

As far as I am concerned, coloured headstocks are the right way for all the custom colours - surf greens, fiesta red, Daphne blue, burgundy mist, etc all look great.  Obviously not for sunburst, white or that toffee colour (desert sand?) but black is ok.

Agreed, with a few additional thoughts:

- White Strats look rock'n'roll with a "normal" headstock, sophisticated with a matching headstock.  Both are good.
- Black Strats should only ever have maple fingerboards (but if they don't... then they should have matching headstocks)
- As a rule of thumb maple-board Strats should not have matching headstocks (but never say never)
- Sunburst Strats should never, under any circumstances, have matching headstocks.
- The ultimate matching headstock colour is.... Burgundy Mist.

Wooo... there's some seriously f@cked up people in this thread... and I thought it was just Philly...

Come on guys, matching headstock on a strat?... NOOOOOO!!!

Get some help before it's too late!

Good God man, you're a genius! Solving two of the greatest unexplainable maladies of this board.

A neck exchange, owners of coloured headstocks can swap their neck for one of the Philly's collection.

Philly's happy and these unsightly abominations are keep out of sight for the foreseeable future!

It is a very good idea, but, just to be clear on this before we start....

I have no interest in coloured headstocks for their own sake.  I would need the matching bodies.  Even if they were just for keeping under my bed.

Yeah, that's not unreasonable, I guess.  However....

Lake Placid Blue is one of those colours that I fully accept is a cool colour, but I've never personally liked it.  Same would apply to Candy Apple Red.

I don't really like matching headstocks either

also i always am a bit bemused when people act like a PRS is a doctor's or lawyer's guitar and then drool over a £5k (or more) CS Fender or Gibson.

Technically speaking, if a guitar has a natural, oiled body, neck and headstock, are they matching..?

Just so I'm clear, like.
