I had a (slightly) similar situation.... where I was the seller!
A couple of months ago I got a Korean SG copy in part exchange for another guitar and just put it straight on eBay (without looking at it very carefully, but it seemed to be in working order). When I sold it and sent it to the buyer, one of the frets had dropped out in transit and it turned out some of the others might also be a bit loose! He was quoted about £50 to sort out the loose fret(s) but since the guitar itself wasn't worth much more than that I just got him to send it back and returned all his money.
No idea what to do with the guitar now....!
I'm not trying to defend bad eBay sellers, but it was a lesson to me that you can never be too careful! I normally describe things in minute detail, especially if they're 99% mint and only have one or two tiny scratches. But this was a rare case where, because I didn't think the guitar was worth anything anyway, I simply didn't look at it closely enough. If I'd realised there was a problem I could've sold it as a "project/repair" item and probably have got almost as much for it, without the hassle.
