NGD! (soon)
« on: February 12, 2014, 11:02:45 PM »

they were asking for $2600 or so but i offered a bit less today and it was accepted so i'm very excited. i can't wait to finally get my dream guitar.

not sure what pickups are in there but if i ultimately choose to replace them, i will probably go with riff raff/mule. their description says (the neck position rates at 7.6kOhms and the bridge at 13.5k), which seems to be pointing to the 498t/490r combo

the nut was replaced i guess. looks like the standard nut in a les paul.

it was professionally refretted which is cool with me. i dont need original frets and these ones look on the higher side which i like. which is probably why i got such a good deal on it too.

the knobs were changed but i'll be changing them back to the black speed knobs.

also apparently the weight is about 8lbs 15oz which seems very low but i'm cool with it. i dont THINK its chambered or weight relieved but who knows.

overall i can't wait to get this. i have been wanting this guitar for years. i never thought i'd actually own one. and the place i bought it from (chicago music exchange) has incredible reputation. they have sold some of the most incredible guitars in the world

Excellent!   I love the look of a Les Paul Custom.   :D

Do you know what year it is?  I think all recent Customs are weight-relieved, one way or another, unless they're Historic models.

Oh you big spender, you've got yourself a black beauty! Kinda jealous here. Congrats, hope it doesn't weigh a ton.  :)

Yeah I had watched videos from CME for a while and they just had the perfect guitar for the perfect price so it was great knowing they were so good with selling and shipping rather than get it from some random ebayer. And yeah this is really the most I've spent on a guitar.  Sold my les Paul classic.  And used most of my tax return.  Still trying to sell those rebel yells though...

Yeah, they do look good.

I always liked Peter Frampton's three-pickup Custom with the cream rings, black pickups and gold knobs.

That is a great guitar, I waver on this constantly but I think the Custom is my favourite of the humbuckered Les Pauls. It's hard making something look very rock and roll AND very classy at the same time but the Custom manages it. Lovely.

It needs a Kahler adding and scalloping the finger board though obviously.

Awesome, congrats on achieving your dream guitar. Black Custom just exude class and style IMO, just so damn cool. I have one and it's getting better with age, enjoy that beast in good health!
