My other premium has the edge zero II with zps and it's the second most stable bridge that i've used after the Kahler 2700 on my strat. Some did have edge III's though and they are very hit and miss bridges.

Also I agree about the abalone. Usually I refuse to even consider guitars with it on. This one it doesn't seem as garish as usual. It's definitely a long way off schecter/esp abalone!

Now back onto the topic. Parcelfarce still haven't arrived!

Thanks. I should've added that my experience with the Ibanez bridges is with the older ones- I still operate a "once bitten twice shy" approach, though

Yeah I'm not generally too fond of abalone either. It's ok for inlays but I'm not usually that fussed for binding. It looks a fair bit nicer on yours, though.

That sucks about PF, especially if you paid extra for Saturday delivery...

Round 2! At least this time it's out for delivery. I still can't get through to GAK customer service so i've left a couple of messages.

It's here! The fretboard isn't as interesting as the guy whos photo I borrowed from SS.org but the guitar is lovely. The bridge pickup most likely needs to go though. Gain/mids/treble are all great but the low end is excessive!

I just noticed that the headstock logo is a maple inlay. A nice touch!

That is a pretty one! How does it play?

That is a pretty one! How does it play?

If you've ever played an Ibanez Premium you'll feel comfortable with it.

The neck profile is a little rounder than my RG950 but feelwise it's very similar. It's nice and light (not as light as my RG950)  which is a bonus and very resonant.  Now I just have to figure out if the overbearing lows are the pickup or the rosewood top as i've never had rosewood on a guitar before other than the fretboard so I aren't sure what to expect!

The bridge is also extremely solid with everything locked down and it's a breeze to setup and feels really nice under my palm being so low profile.

Also welcome back! How have you been? Speaking of rosewood didn't you make a rosewood RR? If so maybe you could enlighten me on the tonal qualities of it :D

Well, it sounds like it's a treasure. :)

Yeah, that's bridge looked really solid, almost like a VS-100 series trem saddle set on it. Really like the look of it. Glad to hear that design is palm comfy, been thinking of grabbing a set for a new thin-bodied RG build.

The Wenge RR is actually.... one output jack shy of being completed... unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it. When life got twisty, I put it down and had something of a mental block about it until recently. Was building it up during stressful times, so at this point it's more an exercise in closing chapters than a NGD. Missed by a hair on the drilling for the wiring, so have put a new jackplate on order. But.. (and not to thread jack) I think it's turned out well. Took it down to Blackmachine thickness and mutilated a Kahler cam unit into it... Can't remember how the system works here so I'm hoping this remains a link and not a photo. Let's add some asterisks to ignore just to be safe. **http://s1029.photobucket.com/user/flyinryan1/media/IMG_0200.jpg.html**
Acoustically, it's as nice as I'd have hoped. Really loud actually, lot of midrange action there. That MM should be a happy little guy in there. I've only played one rosewood necked instrument, but I think wenge is a bit sharper in tone, but not a far cry. Unplugged review on that, so... grain of salt. Perhaps you remember that passive high-pass control we had discussed a few years ago? A Het-set would look sharp on it though....

Ahh yes wenge.

That guitar is looking really nice. I approve of the Kahler! Is it one of the newer models or a NOS one?

I do remember that high pass conversation. I've tried implementing it a few times but I can never quite get the frequencies right. It's always a bit too high or low. I will have to tinker with it some more.

I have considered moving my hetset into this as the guitar it's in currently will be up for sale shortly but I think I want to keep this one passive especially as I love the switching setup it has with the parrallel neck in position 4.

Feel free to shoot me an email if you still have my address.

With the back end chopped off, it's whatever model is cooler. Just kidding, it's a newer one. The HM model with the trem bar that doesn't look like a coathanger with a little jimmy hat on it. Yes, still have your e-mail and will do. Really nice to pop in and see a lot of the regulars still being regular. I know you've always had a hard on for Ibbys so it's also good to see you wielding a primo model.

From my experience with Parcelforce it's probably their fault more than GAK...
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Oh yeah most definitely. Gak stuck to their side of the agreement and handed it over in plenty of time.

Very nice :D I wonder if the neck is slightly more based on the J-customs? The few I tried had slightly rounder neck profiles than the wizard-style necks, IIRC, and the rest of the premium range looks a wee bit like it took the J-customs as inspiration...

Has it had the pickups changed in it? They don't really look like the stock ones, but I could be wrong. EDIT: d'oh, my mistake, it just says "premium" on the pickup plastic cover

Also I was going to say I didn't realise it came with a hard case, but looking more closely at the pics the handle seems to be soft so maybe it's just a more solid type of soft case?

yeah its a semi hard one. Plenty sturdy all of the premium line come with as well as a multi tool and change of strings. My other premium came with a different tool though but still a nice one without the socket wrench.

The staff that make the premium line are ex Japan staff so prestige/J Custom etc.

Nice! congrats and glad it finally arrived-how does the neck compare to the one on the RGA42?
