The solo is the ending part of Suicide Messiah. The rhythm guitar during the actual solo isn't mine, it's the backing track. Be warned I'm no virtuoso. For the rockabilly part I added a little slap echo from my Danelectro Wasabi Rock-a-Bey. There's a bit of clipping, the output of the Warpig is a little too much for the Dano. It looked rediculous playing rockabilly on that guitar.

But actually sounds quite good! Again, it's impressive how well that pickup of cleans up -- perhaps a function of the A5 magnet rather than ceramic? It's certainly bassy, but very organic sounding and not at all harsh.

Is there another pickup in the guitar, besides the Warpig in the bridge?  If so, how well have you got them balancing in terms of output?  One of my main worries in getting a Warpig would be balancing its output with another pickup (lots of height adjustment whilst trying not to mess up the tone of either pickup).

The Warpig is pretty bassy + I have a bassy amp with a bassy speaker cab, the body wood is pretty bassy as well. When your playing in a band most of that sub bass is lost in the mix (bass drum, bass guitar). What's left is solid as a rock.

This Mockingbird is a single pickup guitar. But I think it can easily be combined with a Crawler or VHII.

One of the possible pairings I had been thinking of was Warpig bridge and Alnico Miracle Man neck.  (Though it would be interesting to hear a Warpig neck, too -- how creamy can the 'pig get? :))

I think you should ask Steve. He's the Pig expert.

I'm thinkig about getting a cheap used Epi gothic Explorer. I'll put the Mockingbirds Warpig in the bridge and add a Mississippi Pig in the neck.

Well, Steve, do you or anyone have a set of Pigs?  It'd be great to hear more.  I'm increasingly thinking my choice hinges around whether, with a 'pig in the bridge, I can put something in the neck to deliver the "souped-up Santana" tones I hear in my head -- or alternatively put something lower output in both the bridge and neck, like a Mule bridge and (recently rumoured Abraxas in the neck, falling back on the amp (or, in my case, amp simulator!) for heavied up tones ....

I've got some saving up to do while I think about it though! ;)  So in the meantime it's great to hear all these clips.  I'm really thinking that it would be worth culling the clips from the threads and organizing them on the website by pickup model, with notes on the guitar, etc. that was used in recording (perhaps the format for annotating this info could be standardized?).  It's really getting so one has to scrounge around through the Players threads, but there's a lot of great "customer info" to be had in them.

I'd like to hear that new Abraxis as well. The Crawler in the neck also does an awesome Santana impression.

Yup, I remember you mentioning it!  Though, who knows?  Even the Warpig bridge sounds pretty organic and sweet when clean -- it might sound surprisingly sexy in the neck position. :)

I need to make myself a chart of possible pickup pairings.  (Another idea for the main BKP web site, to aid those not taking a set of 2 pups together -- though I think someone else already mentioned this idea.)

I don’t have a set of pig's, I play bass! my brother does though! Your thinking of having an alnico V miracle man in the neck is spot on, that’s what the warpig neck is!! I think if you want the Santana tone you should wait for the Abraxis, It will have a much sweeter tone, especially if you have it with an alnico IV magnet.

Here's the clip I recorded for With Full Distortion. I've done it until the break, thar Em thing that sounds like Sanitarium. After that it gets complicated but it's all I could do on short notice. It's still a bit sloppy but I hope it'll help in WFD's tone quest.

The nickname comes from Rat Rod. It's a term to describe hot rods in the style of the late twenties 'till the early sixties. They look like they've been to hell and back. Usually they're in primer colors and have steel wheels.

This one is a nice example, no paint at all. Flat head V8, zoomie pipes without mufflers.

Eh, well, so do I :)  But I haven't figured out a strategy to BKPize my bass, so I'm thinking about BKPizing the guitar instead :)

Ah!  I must be starting to understand at least something about how the different pickups do their things!!

Mmmmm, Santana neck tone, yes ..... :) Well, yeah, I'm interested to see how the outputs on the new models turnout.  I'm thinking it will be easiest for me if I don't let a new BKP bridge pup be more than about twice as hot as the new BKP neck (which, as I understand it, is about how my stock Gibsons are arranged).

Still, sounds like I could do *worse* than a Warpig set if the Warpig neck is actually a Alnico MM in disguise :).  (But also it will be interesting to see how effin' heavy the Abraxis bridge will get, or which other pups in the bridge would match an Abraxis neck.)
