Where at in Ohio? I too am a Buckeye. It's good to see Ohio bretheren worshipping at Tim's altar of god-like tone. ;)

Tiny little village between Akron and Canton called "Canal Fulton".  I went to school at the University of Cincinnati, but I was a Buckeye fan at birth.  I rooted for the Buckeyes against the convicts... errrr.. Bearcats this weekend.  And let's just say that my house was a hostile environment to outsiders last weekend when OSU played UT (my wife's alma mater).  My three year old daughter came into our media room where we were watching the game as asked me, "Daddy... who are the bad guys?"  I had to give her the politically correct answer (and the one that would not cause me a trip to the hospital to remove my wife's foot from my crotch) and tell her that both teams were the good guys, since one team was Mommy's team and the other was Daddy's.  But of course we know who the good guys REALLY were. :)

Where are you at in O-H-I-O?  /cue "Hang On Sloopy" song

Regs,
Jeff

I live in the opposite corner of the state. I live in a little burg called Fostoria in NW Ohio about 40 miles south of Toledo.

I would have LOVED to been in Texas when OSU humiliated them. heh heh

Eric,

Gotcha.  Had a lot of buddies in college from Centerville in that general area.  Never made it over there much, myself.  Mostly travelled in the Akron-Canton area and then to Columbus to see my bro at OSU and Cincy for school.  Five of the longest years of my life were spent in the hellhole known as the U of C.  Graduated on my birthday in 1995 and haven't been back since.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.  :)

Later,
Jeff

Jeff: Just a quick question on American logic - why would you call a game "Football" if the majority of the game involves maneuvering the ball with your hands - they only kick to restart play, for one of those penalty thingies or when the team doesn't want the ball anymore (never understood that myself)...and even on those occasions when they do kick it, they have to get someone to hold it still for them

Dude, you are trying to use LOGIC when it comes to sports?!?!?  Let me remind you that the average citizen of the Earth, be they in the States, Europe, Mongolia, Timbuktu or the Middle East, is about as logical (or possesses as much common sense) as the common household plant.  Seeing as how American football was created by such a man, I'm guessing logic didn't really factor into it.  Having played the s-word game here for 6-7 years as a kid, and then a season or two for our corporate team about 10 years ago, I think I'm qualified to say that your term for the game is better than the s-word... or at least more logical.  To be honest, I'm not quite sure what a better name for football would be.  "Throw Ball"?  "Run/Kick/Pass Ball"?  "Oblong Ball"?  Either way, I'm still a rabid fan of the college game.  The S-word has long since bored me to tears... as does baseball, basketball and pro American Football.  Then again, I play ice hockey in Houston... what the hell do I know?  :)

Toodles,
Jeff

I don't know whether to be proud or frightened.  :)

How 'bout proud that I'm frightened?  Frightened that I'm proud?  Ah hell... I wish I was home with the ol' guitars right now.  Friggin had to work from home until after midnight and had no chance to practice guitar.  Sucks when work intrudes on home life.  *barf*

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

PS - My Avatar is a character from an insane cartoon played on the US cable channel, Nicktoons.  The show is called "Invader Zim".  It's very whacked out , but funny nonetheless.   Not something you would watch with the under 6 crowd... but funny to pre-teens and me.  :)  You can google it and come up with lots of info.  It was cancelled a few years ago and I believe got such a cult following with the repeats being shown that they recently started airing new episodes.  At least that's my understanding.

LOL.  I'm a DSP A/V Systems Engineer for Texas Instruments.  Used to primarily do audio stuff like mp3 encoders and decoders, surround sound and virtual surround sound programming and the like.  Now I am doing imaging stuff including becoming our group's newest "expert" on MPEG4.  Right now, I'm stuck on a "time critical" issue dealing with a new software release and my job is to proof all the damn documentation.  And I'm not kidding... it's written by dudes from Bulgaria.  It's not the world's best spelling or grammar... but kudos to people who know more than one language.
