I listened to a bunch of Helloween, Gamma Ray and Unisonic the last days

Unisonic I especially like. Its a bit power metal meets AOR.

I recently got the new James Taylor album Before This World and being a big JT fan, I rather like it. Like meeting up with an old friend again.

just got the new album by God Is An Astronaut.  I got it because a friend plays some guest guitar on it, but I'm enjoying it quite a lot.  Instrumental stuff, pretty atmospheric.

I just realised that I said that I was a JT fan (meaning James Taylor) and that this thread, probably the longest running, was started by forum member JT. It is nice that it has carried on.

On topic I also bought a nice Tommy Emmanuel album the other day- after dithering for ages. It is an old one but new to me. Called "Only" it does have some rather good stuff on it. I also got Mike Casswells "Complaints About the Noise" recently. Mike is an old friend and I am normally not much of a guitar album buyer( notwithstanding the above contradictory factors).

Florence and the Machine - I've had all three albums on rotation on my mp3 player ever since the new album came out.

I pre-ordered both "How Big..." and the previous "Ceremonials" without hearing any clips or even worrying what might be on them - very LONG time since I've done that to any act at all. She ain't let me down yet.

Been giving the Next to None debut album a spin. Itīs the band of the son of former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Max Portnoy. Itīs a bit like an updated version of DT with a bit of Slipknot. Cool stuff. You notice in the writing that they are still super young, but on a technical level itīs super impressive. A band to watch for sure Iīd say.

Dire Straits Live at the BBC and Pink Floyd Pulse on Vinyl - incredible live albums and they really come over well in analog - you can hear the tape splice looping on Mark Knopfler's copycat!  Also pulled out some old Barclay James Harvest and early Camel - Andy Latimer is an excellent guitarist.
So many pickups, so little time

Currently listening to albums by a really cool psychedelic rock/afrobeat mash up band called Goat who are bloody fantastic. Everyone should check them out if you like retro vibed oddness. They have a cool Pagan/Voodoo Ritual/celebration live act that was the highlight of Glastonbury for me this year. So glad I discovered them.

Also I've been listening to The Black Angels, Wooden Shjips (yes that's how it's spelt) and The Warlocks.

Ah, when you said Goat, I thought of the british rock band from (i think) the early 90's who released the rather wonderful Medication Time album.  Unfortunately not :(

You should check them out, and I should check out this Goat

No Prayer For The Dying - Iron Maiden

Actually, not so bad as I remember it. In fact, I'm finding it pretty invigorating.

Itīs not one of the classics but just a lot of fun. Maybe Iīm saying it cause it was my first Maiden I bought on sale while on Swedish holiday.

Bring me your daughter still is just good fun to me in some way. A lot of the rest too. Refreshing in the way that you donīt hear em as often as a lot of the Maiden greats.
