The Trees - Garden of Jane Delawney & On The Shore.  English folk/rock band from the early 70's.  The singer sounds a lot like Sandy Denny and the songs are good.  I missed them back then, but heard a track at a music store and ended up getting the CD's.  I'm also going through some old vinyl and was listening to Home, all of their earlier albums and some early Camel.  They are great albums, both having excellent guitar players (Laurie Wisefield and Andy Latimer).
So many pickups, so little time

I'd love to hear what Metallica would be like with James Hetfield, Rob Trujillo and a really good drummer and lead guitarist.
It exists; it's called old school Blind Guardian!

Just discovered the Black Keys. Some really good music these guys are playing. Oh and ever since I saw them on episodes of American Dad, My Morning Jacket and Waxfang

Saxon - Demin and Leather

Funnily enough, so have I!

I got the little box set of "The Complete Albums 1979-1988" the other week. The second album, Wheels of Steel, is still my favourite - I bought it when it came out, saw them with Tygers of Pan Tang as support the night before my A-Levels, etc, etc...

Saw them at least once more but I kinda switched off of "metal" altogether (apart from "THE MIGHTY PRIEST"  ) by the time Denim and Leather came out. I'm really enjoying all of it (Mrs R less so, but she can hear the attraction of Wheels of Steel).

I listened to much of their back catalogue yesterday after Denim'n'Leather in fact.

I agree that Wheels of Steel is probably their best. I put Demin'n'Leather as 2nd best. The big surprise for me was Power and The Glory. Popular opinion seems to be that this is a cr@ppy album, so I hadn't bothered to listen to it before. But I finally tried it and thought it was really good. I also thought the first album was alright, a bit psychedelic. I've never been keen on Strong Arm Of The Law as an album, too much filler for me.

After Power And The Glory I found their stuff a little light. In the past have I listened to quite a bit of post-Graham Oliver stuff and it seemed to improve again, but not like the classic NWOBHM period.

Yep, Power and The Glory through to Destiny were completely new to me, so it's all still growing on me.

I've been surprised by Strong Arm - I think it must have been that one that I started losing interest in Saxon with... but I've enjoyed it the most after Wheels so far... Denim and Leather has it's high points but at the moment it's still a grower.

Might give it another go on the way home...

EXCEPT, I'm the middle of listening to the Michael Schenker UFO albums on the commute... got those a year or two ago and - this is the trouble with getting "classic album" sets, several albums at once - I enjoyed it all, but it was "workmanlike" stuff, nothing too special apart from the songs I knew from Strangers... not likely to listen to these studio ones too often... but now I've given them more of a go, I'm LOVING them... WHAT A BAND they were, and they p1ssed it all away with drunken laddishness... so sad... they should have been one of the BIG names.

Latest musical gorging has been on various Electro acts from 1980-1983. Stand outs thus far is  the Vince Clark Depeche Mode album, Yazoo, New Order, the New Romantics, and Tears For Fears.

I've always though of UFO as a pub rock band, but a really really good one.

Scouting for Schenker nuggets, I've listened to alot of the UFO albums. They are good stuff.
