Now that I've analysed my playing and given the pickup posibilities on this guitar some thought, I've descided on the following:
-Mothers Milk in the neck position (after carefully analysing my playing, I realised whenever I picked up any guitar, especially a strat, I only/mostly used the neck pickup and let the Plexi's natural gain do the talking. That Brant Bjork / Hendrix kinda thing).
-No middle pickup (since there wood would need to be routed out, don't wanna go through that trouble)
And now, for the Bridge Pickups, I need some options.
I've been thinking of a P90 in the bridge, for a nice warm, midrangy tone that ain't too bright, kind of like a warmer early Sabbath tone (think Into The Void, I love that guitar tone).
I also like Billy Gibbons' tone alot, and use a Green Machine (Tube Screamer clone) as an overdrive, when playing classic rock stuff.
So I I'm looking for a pickup that comes somewhere in between, though I'm leaning a bit more towards the Sabbath sound, so a P90. Again, Warmth is the key word. Cleans don't have to be crystal clear, but PAF-ish warm, you know? Kinda of like a neck pickup, but in the bridge.
What would you recommend, Tim? Got some cash saved up, so I'm looking into ordering a set REALLY soon
Cheers,
Max
By the way, the clip I posted earlier was played on the neck pickup. So that still makes the choise Mother's Milk, right?
