I think the lighter your picking technique the thicker the pick you use

when I first started playing I used light 0.73 tortex (the yellow ones), I was a really heavy picker though since I didn't even use an amp, now I try and play as light and effortlessly as possible

I would say the less experienced generally whack the strings with the pick and so use a lighter pick because they are less controlled.

though this doesn't apply the other way round, you can be controlled, but hit the strings hard, and use a lighter pick

I use the BK 1.14 mm celluloid 1s.

Liked the 1s that came free so much, that I now buy them in 30s from Tim :)

B.K.Ps own 1.14 mm heavy celluloid

Is this the one you get when you buy pickups?

Hiya Martin,

Yes , I got the heavy  1.21 mm - ( my error in assuming 1.14mm previously ) one with my Mules, but a lighter one ( 0.84 mm ? ) with my Stormy Mondays.

Like forum member Brow, I then sent off for more of the one I liked. They are listed in  the BKP shop page under 'Accessories'.

Regards,

F.F.

Switched to DAVA picks recently....nice rubber coating on the upper section for plenty of grip and if you flip it around and use one of the rubber coated corners it gives a unique soft funky sound

Dunlop Nylons 0.73 mainly but also one thinner/thicker, been using those so long i cant change even if i wanted anymore lol. They do have a very nice grip and are flexible but if i bend them a bit between my fingers they become much firmer. Nice tool to have imo.
Mules in '76 Gibson custom with maple neck.
