With £2k I'd be looking at an R8 or R7 and possibly a Historic LP junior.

For amps, the new Spider Valve would satisfy her liking of lots of bells/whistles and it's not that bad either.

Engl Thunder combo and an ESP Viper.

That's pretty much my setup and I absolutely LOVE my tone, and absolutely LOVE my guitar.

I honestly couldn't recommend the Viper more - Best neck of any guitar I've ever played - And quite light to boot.

I tried a Viper 400 once (as a serious option) and it's neck was huge and it weighed a ton.

this girl clearly isn't interested in guitars, why the $%&# is she wasting time and money on this stuff? i reckon if she's in to guitars and emo this week then it doesnt really matter what she gets, because it'll be getting dusty in the corner next week when keyboards and rave music's in :x :roll:

Trust me, im every bit as pissed as you. I mean ive worked hard to get my gear. It might not be all that flash but it look alot of work to get it. She gets this money from her dad to flutter away.

Then again, thats just the way life is isnt it?

I suppose a good thing is if she gets serious gear she can sell it for little loss on the money. I mean Epiphones dont really keep there value as well as PRS's do they?

if i had 2 grand to spend on a new guitar and amp i'd get a 50w marshall vintage modern, 1x12 with celestion classic lead 80, and some sort of faded series gibson.

maybe she'd like an SG?

obviously, i'd prefer to buy second-hand gear.

Fender Big Apple Strat - £450 (ish)
Fender John 5 Tele - £559
Epiphone Sheraton II - £429

She may want to try the Richie Kotzen signature telecaster which is supposed to be awesome.

A Yngwie strat would be excellent too. To be honest I think once guitars get to a certain price they really don't get any better youre just paying for age and collectibility or the name attached to it. If this girl plays punk tho seriousley spending so much is insane, punks have the habit of playing any old shite they can get their hands on cheaper the better. I still think the fender blackout telecaster:
