Ok, You have £2000 to get a guitar.

What is it?

My incredibly lucky friend is getting £2000 to spend on a guitar for crimbo. We went into town to try out what the local shops have, nothing too interesting really. She loved the look of the Epiphone ZW camo and the Joe Strummer Sig telecaster.
She wants something thats easy to string up and play. Hence the LP and tele recommendation's. So.. I ask you bunch here whats a good hardtail guitar for under 2 grand. Well under would be good to get a decent amp as well, which  I told her was the most important part. Amp first then guitar.  She however see's it as looks first.

errrm, next Xmas maybe?
and get one built :P
The ZW epi is indeed easy to string, but thats about it, I presume it has the alder top like other Epi's, as its quite resonant. Quite nice unplugged really.

Definetly a PRS Singlecut.

Either that or an ESP viper.

God I love my Viper - best neck I've ever played.

Go ahead. She just likes the look of it. Im there to assess playability and the likes. I mean, she could get a super amazing guitar but its what it looks like to her is the most important. I mean, she was thinking about getting a Daisy Rock. No offence to them but, with that amount of cash you've got a few more options.

Thats why its so hard to think of what she'd like. I mean, I would shoot off to the Prestige Ibanez's or the high end Jacksons if I had the money.

So far shes got her eye on the Camo ZW and an Orange rocker 30.

Well Orange Rocker 30 is a great choice.

Looks and sounds great. So that's no worries.

But that leaves about £1400... and to waste that opportunity on an Epiphone would be criminal!!! lol.

I say Orange Rocker 30 and PRS Singlecut. That would be a killer combo.

EDIT: What about a PRS CE 22 or 24? I say that 'cause they have a bright orange finish that might suit her needs for something flash-looking, and they still play and sound great.

They're only about £1000 so that would leave more money for an even better Orange... something like a Rockerverb or AD30 combo....?

Yeah, she was originality going to get a Spider III cause it has lots of flashy lights... I tempted her away from that with the Orange, well because its orange. Thank god they had them in stock.

I'll see if soundcontrol can order in PRS's, any other makes you can think of? I was thinking about the Paul Gilbert Sig from Ibanez. That things insane.

Sound control definitely do the PRSs. Specifically the bright orange CE24s cause that's where I tried one!

Yeah that Paul Gilbert model is a good idea.

Amp wise if you didn't want to go Orange, then there are other good amps that look a bit flash...

H&K Switchblade combo... around £900?

Im pretty sure she's set on the orange. Amps are fairly limited around my patch and it would be a bit of a hassle trying to test them all out. The orange is perfect to my ears and she said she liked it. I suppose she could get the AD30 depending on what guitar she gets.

I've told her to hold out on getting anything just now.

Not a bad plan. However getting one ordered might be a problem. I'll tell her though.

EDIT: forgot about internet shops, DOH!

two grand?

did i read that right? two THOUSAND pounds?

that's some serious guitar money!

may i suggest to look at what Jonathan (FelineGuitars) has in stock and buy from him.
though, that might not leave a whole lot for the amp

Your eyes do not deceive you. My jaw almost hit the floor when she told me. I would of went down that road but since those guitars are close to the limit, she would be playing it through a Fender 15w starter pack amp which is just pointless.

Well... i was gonna say: "GO CUSTOM!!!!"  But then you started going off about an amp...  Now i really don't know what to tell you.  Is she just starting out?  If she is just starting out there is no reason to get a nice tube amp (unless it is one of the very inexpensive TT's or Matamps), and there is every reason to get a very nice guitar that she will want to come back to again and again and again (Contact Wez or Jonathan, *hint* *hint*)  :P
BKPz: Nailbomb+VHII, more to come...
