i like cloverfield... yeah it kinda suffers from the curse of the blair witch but it has so much more story than that piece of cr@p it dont really matter.   I didnt really like the first 20 minutes and i dont really like any of the characters... but the film is good, the ending works well (even down to the clip of something landing in the sea behind the ferris wheel... why couldnt it just be something from the deep.... something that has always been there....waiting!!!)

i was worried the film would con us with suspense the way blair witch did, but at least it delivers with some good monster footage....getting right in there with it at the end!   every other hollywood moster movie of the last 30 years has been fairly predictable and pretty cr@p from the scepticle view of hindsight...cloverfield is the same thing from a whole new angle... not as good as the host though which really works as a straightforward monster movie from a different cultural viewpoint!!!

Check out this link:

The Call of Cthulhu

It's a low-budget silent film, made to look as if it was shot in the 1920s, but it's the nearest I've seen to capturing the atmosphere of the Lovecraft stories.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Saw Wall-E the other day and thought it was great. One of the best animated characters/films I've seen :)

It's good that Wall-E is the most "human" animated character even though he's just a robot. Certainly puts Shrek to shame - am I the only one who HATES that film (and its sequels)? $%&#ing awful but everyone seems to love it. Watched most of Batman Begins last night before having to go to work so I'll watch the rest soon. thought it was pretty good and way better than I thought batman was

I'm glad the Dark Knight was good. We have it on DVD (don't ask!) but i can't bring myself to see it - i HAVE to see it on the big screen. I might also go to an Imax Philly.

My girlfriend got me an Alfred Hitchc--k box set for my birthday and I've been watching 1 or 2 of his films every day since. The man's amazing. It seems strange but I'd never actually seen any of his films before (other than the Birds and Psycho), but I think I've seen the vast majority of the episodes of Alfred Hitchc--k Hour - the films are like extended, extra clever episodes.

:D Which box set is it?  There are very few bad Hitchc--k films (that I've seen) but I particularly love some of the relatively early ones like The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes and the 1934 version of The Man Who Knew Too Much.   I think my absolute favourites are Strangers on a Train and Frenzy.

The Dark Knight was AWESOME! I can see why everyones raving about Heath Ledger in it, he really was good as the Joker.

edit - watching Equilibrium now and its really good. Worth a watch :) I have the godfather trilogy to watch later as well.
