i watched The Orphange (El Orfanato) the other week and really loved it - one of the few films that managed to creep me out recently .... and its kept me creeped out for longer than i care to admit

Brilliant stuff, one of the best horror movies I've seen for ages - and I watch a lot of horror movies.  It relies on good old-fashioned tension and atmosphere, but there are a couple of really effective shock moments too!  :)

This is England was a fantastic film - must see.
Also, i got Pan's Labyrinth the other day, and i was surprised at how good it was.

Even better than The Orphanage! :)

It's not just good, to me it's an absolute masterpiece, a revolution in the art of film making, 'The Dark Crystal' is a lot better as well! much much darker, one of the scariest you will ever see.

Anything by Tim Burton is amazing too, and Hiro Miyosaki.

i think the first half of that film was exactly  like my early life growing up in the midlands in the 80's, some good bits, some not so good.

Watched Wanted today, I thought it was very good. Not a fan of Jolie, but the action in it was remarkably thrilling.
The trailers also made Hellboy II and Batman look good, as well as something with Seth from Superbad in, and something which seems to be like Platoon, but not so serious

Think that was mentioned a while back- isn't there a white actor playing a black guy?

Yeah - Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr (as the black guy).  If it's the same film.

Ong Bak is a pretty funny/stupid fighting movie. The fight scenes are so over the top, cr@p story (obviously) but its good entertainment.

Ong Bak is bloody awesome, I can't tell you how much I love that film!  :D   Amazing genuine stunts and action setpieces.  People always go on about the cr@p plot but that's the same as just about every other martial arts movie in the history of the world in space.

Have you also seen Tom Yum Goong (aka Warrior King)? Even stupider plot and even more over the top, not quite as good but still worth a look.  And Born To Fight is another good Thai action movie.

Nope I havent seen em but I like that sort of thing where its just about the fighting and theres only a "plot" because otherwise it wouldnt be classed as a film :P I have a version of Ong Bak with the really cr@p dubs, I'd rather have subtitles.

The Australian DVD is very good, it has the original Thai version, plus Luc Besson's slightly edited international version, plus another disc of extras.  The UK 2-disc is good too, it also has the uncut Thai version but with a new music score.

Zombie (aka Zombi 2 aka Zombie Flesh Eaters)
The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue (aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie)
The Nights of Terror (aka Burial Ground)
Tombs of the Blind Dead (and sequels)
Dead and Buried
Zeder
Zombie Holocaust (aka Dr Butcher MD)
Hell of the Living Dead (aka Zombie Creeping Flesh)
Cannibal Apocalypse
Nightmare City
Braindead
City of the Living Dead
House by the Cemetery
The Beyond

Probably loads of others that have slipped my mind...

Not all of these are exactly zombie movies, but they're zombie-ish.  A lot of them are Italian (but dubbed into English).  Some are great, some are OK, some are so-bad-its-good.
