haha I've seen Braindead, not my thing. Funny, but the baby was soooo annoying.

Braindead is one of my favourite films - I went to a pre-release screening of it years ago and it was the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in a cinema, it was more like a gig  :) !  I remember I was sitting just behind Ginger from the Wildhearts and Ray Zell from Kerrang.

Unfortunately all the DVDs of it are shitee.  Peter Jackson seems to have lost interest in his early films. :(

I saw Braindead years ago, well funny.

I saw The Happening at the pics the other week. It's very strange, no one knows whats going on and it gives you the creeps.

Also saw Cloverfield. Shot  like Blair witch project, camcorder style. No one knows what the thing is but it destroys new york and eats people.

Since we're on Braindead, then Bad Taste is also awesome.

Got Stickmen the other week, another NZ film.  Wicked.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Saw this recently too, poor ending I thought. What do you reckon?

If you like the humor from down-under then 'Undead' is a zombie film worth checking out.  Also Black Sheep about killer sheep is very funny too.

I thought Cloverfield was absolutely shite. First person films like that aren't really my thing I guess, but I can't even see a way that it is good...

I felt like that too. It might be good if they did a sequel in normal blockbuster  style to answer all the questions about what the f*ck was going on!

Watched Zombie Strippers, War Games : the dead code, and Hanc--k today.
(very bored, need to start work)

Zombie strippers, quite funny in some cases, comical death scenes that are still horrific. Not a bad watch if you are bored.
War Games, tries to do too much, but in that sense its a clever story, and is not way OTT atleast. A decent film
Hanc--k... Oh dear, just no. After 40 minutes it should have ended, thats where the story got lame(r), and the story only got funny about 20 minutes in. Could have been better really, or maybe it couldn't; a bit of a dud story? I think it shows that Will Smith directed it, his acting is poor

I thought Cloverfield was quite well done, I liked the fact that nothing was explained.  But the central storyline was idiotic.  Struggling all the way across town to rescue that girl - why would she have stayed at home when everyone else in the city was getting the hell out of there???  Especially when they had to climb up 50 flights of stairs in a leaning-over building to find her...

Undead and Black Sheep were both pretty good - not as funny as they might have been, but well worth a watch.

If you like the "stupid gory fun" type of horror movie, Hatchet and (surprisingly) Wrong Turn 2 are worth a look.

Good description for Hatchet & Wrong Turn 2.  I like how Hatchet tries so hard to be like a Friday 13th film.  Heck, it even has Kane Hodder in it.  Henry Rollins is great in Wrong Turn 2.   8)

And also a brand new one which some might not like but is very $%&#ing good: Silent Light

But If you don't like it, it will certainly help you get to sleep

I had the rental DVD for three months before I finally got round to watching it, but you're right, what a great film! I've been very impressed by all Carlos Reygadas's work, it's very slow and "arty" but still has a powerful emotional impact.
