I've not read the books. I do think I would prefer he film though - if only because Mary Elizabeth Winstead looks rather good as Ramona Flowers. Can't decide which hair colour she looks foxiest with though.

its a fair point, and the only thing The Thing remake remake has over the original The Thing remake

To be fair, I'm not sure they count as remakes, you could say all three films are different interpretations of Who Goes There? by John W Campbell Jr.

.... nah, they're remakes.  :|

I liked her in Black Xmas (another remake) and Death Proof.

It's probably old news and I'm behind the times but yesterday I saw a poster for a Hollywood remake of 'Oldboy'.

I really hope they don't ruin it too much as the original is awesome!

Spike Lee's a good director and I like Josh Brolin as an actor, but I'm still expecting the worst.  Remakes are so unnecessary!

I watched another film which is, I think, based on a comic or graphic novel which (as always) I haven't read: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

I was in a semi-delirious, utterly exhausted state last night due to this ridiculously hot weather everyone thinks is so $%&#ing marvellous  :x , but I think I enjoyed it.  It took me a while to get into the style of the film, but I never got bored and liked it more as it went along, which is usually a good thing.

I was the CG Supervisor on that and it's the most fun I've ever had making a film. Really happy you liked it. :)

Wow, that must be an interesting field to work in, nice work!  :)

Today I went a bit arthouse and watched the Danish historical drama A Royal Affair.

Just in from Pacific Rim,what follows are some poorly formed thoughts.
I really enjoyed it.
It borrowed heavily and I mean Heavily from it's source matrial, to the point that it would have seemed like a wholesale rip off of a few anime I could name but for the fact that it played everything, even the most overused or corny trope, absolutely straight without a hint of irony.

The plot was barely there, seemed to be little more than a vechical for the rampant fan service.

Great performance by Idris Elba.

It's also the first film I've seen where I thought the 3D added to the experience, definitely one to see in the cinema if you have the inclination.
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

Very late to the party on this and it's not a film but I'm about halfway through season 1 of Luther and it's blood awesome! The only thing I don't like about it is the woman he works with (can't remember her name), just something about the way she's played by the actor I think!

I watched Seven Psychopaths.  It's all a bit too clever (or maybe not clever enough) for its own good, and you don't really care much about the characters, but good dialogue, good performances.  I quite enjoyed it.

Also watched Rust and Bone, which got a lot of critical acclaim last year.  I suppose it's best described as a romantic drama, but it's very frank and unsentimental in style.  Again, very good, great performances (and some very clever, non-flashy use of CGI), but I thought it very nearly went of the rails in the last half hour with a couple of silly plot developments.

I had a similar reaction to Seven Psychopaths, I liked it but it did seem to be a bit too pleased with itself.

I got to the end of S2 of Breaking Bad last night and I'm still enjoying it!

Looking forward to where it's going to go as I don't really have a clue as to what might happen

My Mrs still isn't too keen on it though

The new (and last) series is getting put up on Netflix a day after it's aired in the states which is great, it's lost nothing.

Watched Expendables 1 and 2, what a treat  but seriously, there are some genuinely funny moments like this

The Expendables 2 full Chuck Norris scene 1080p

and this little gem

Expendables 2 Airport Battle Scene HD

Recently, I've been to see...

Man of Steel - entertaining, but it got tied up too quickly for me.

The World's End - I'm a fan of Spaced/The Cornetto Trilogy and this had me and the bird laughing our bums off.

The Conjuring - Jumpy, entertaining fun! a bit of a braindead horror from the guys who did Insidious. If you liked that then you will get on with this!

I'm off to see Only God Forgives tonight. I've got a huge man-crush on Ryan Gosling and I've loved Nic Winding Refn's past movies. Apparently this is quite a polarising one...I'll report back!

Just watched the latest episode of Breaking Bad (confessions). Classic stuff. Probably one of the best episodes of any series I have ever watched. I won't say any more as I don't want to spoil it for others who haven't watched it yet.

I'll be sad when it all finishes.
I think I hate being indecisive.
